Event Description

Day trip to Washington on the Brazos State Park, with lunch planned at R-Place BBQ, and then a back-road driving tour of 33 miles through one of Texas' most scenic areas!  (The approximate drive time is 45-50 minutes.)

1.  Meet up at Buccee's Waller 9:00 am Sunday July 13, 2014

2.  Caravan to Washington on the Brazos State Park

3.  Enjoy activities within the park until everyone is ready for lunch.   Individual sites within the park have an entry fee!  No alcohol is allowed in the park. Pets are allowed on a leash.

* IF WE DECIDE NOT TO STAY AT THE PARK: Independence, Texas is a beautiful historic town on the drive we have planned.  We, as a group, might decide to visit this historic preservation site instead. There is a country store that sells lunch items as well.

4.  Dine at R Place Restaurant  (Emergency Plan B lunch perhaps in Independence?)  R-Place serves barbeque and sides, beer and wine.

5.  When everyone is ready, take a scenic road trip through Washington County back roads, ending in Burton, TX

Good name for a smart, Dora.  "Giant Rodent"  :)

It's the HWY 362 Exit. I thought we could meet up under the giant Rodent sign!

Dora, what exit do we take off 290 for Buccee's?

I know, Dora, it's tempting.  I'm on the church council and I'm supposed to be an example....hopefully a good one.  We'll do one on a Saturday some day, I'm sure.  :-)

Hahaha!! That's cute Jim! Too cute! :D

While following you in and around Denver, Jan, I didn't see the beautiful scenery as I was looking so hard for the gendarmes.  My only consolation was that if I found myself in a Colorado lockup Jan would be there to keep me company.

... to chat with about smart cars, of course.  :)

Jim, Dora is leading the group. I'll be in the back. I do drive slower now days. When I first got the car and didn't know how to drive the speed limit! HA HA HA!

...AND Sam, there are several beautiful churches on the route that you could visit!

There is even one in Independence where Sam Houston himself worshiped and actually carved his name in one of the pews! It's still there!

Sam, I think God would forgive you if you spent the day worshiping his creations instead of his churches!!

Having driven with Jan to Denver, I'm inclined to agree with you Jim!! :D <3
