Country Music Icon Loretta Lynn Returns to Houston
Loretta Lynn, country music legend and American icon, has been named one of the ten most admired women in the world by The Ladies Home Journal. Loretta has won numerous awards including the "Golden Plate Award" which was presented by American Academy of Achievement. It recognized the impact of Loretta's music has had on the world. She has received nine CMA awards, including the prestigious "Entertainer of the Year" and "Artist of the Decade-70's". Loretta has reached beyond the parameters of country music and into the hearts of people everywhere.
Her hits include : "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)" (1966), "Your Squaw Is on the Warpath" (1968), "Woman of the World (Leave My World Alone)" (1969), and "The Pill" (1974).
As a duo, Lynn and Conway Twitty had five number one hits between 1971 and 1975. These were "After the Fire Is Gone" (1971), "Lead Me On" (1971), "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" (1973), "As Soon As I Hang Up the Phone" (1974) and "Feelins'" (1974). Her later hits included "I Lie" and "Heart Don't Do This to Me."
