Event Description

For those of you that are in or near Jacksonville, we will be meeting at the Equestrian Center in Jacksonville 13611 Normandy Blvd. at 8AM. We will leave from there going down Normandy Blvd. to 301. We will be heading to Payne's Prairie Preserve where we will drive through the park. The cost of driving through the park is $6 per car. It's a very scenic place and the last time Vicky and I were there we saw a lot of deer, wild turkeys, owls and wild horses. No promises what you will  see, but it is a very nice place. People that are coming from other parts of Florida can meet us directly at the entry to the preserve at around  10AM.

We will leave there after photos and nature stops and head down the road to Micanopy. There, we will have lunch at the Old Florida Cafe. After lunch we will explore Micanopy. Here is a little info about the town.

As Florida's oldest inland settlement, Micanopy (pronounced Mick-can-oh'-pee) has a well-established tradition of charm and Southern hospitality. Micanopy sometimes called "the little town that time forgot" possesses warmth and charm as well as eclectic shopping.

Here you'll find unique historic sites, friendly people, cafes, shopping and beautiful vistas and parks nearby such as Paynes Prairie, Orange Lake and Cross Creek. There are many things to do year round for the whole family.

Best of all, Micanopy is located 1 mile off I-75, 25 minutes away from Gainesville's University of Florida and just a few hours from Tampa, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, St. Augustine, Tallahassee, and Orlando. Take a look around and find out more about our "little" town that's big on relaxation, shopping, antiques, and Southern hospitality.

It was a long drive but, the Hot Dog was good, the Banana Split de-lish, the Sun did finally come out and Faith got to take her top down. It was fun watching Donna's enjoyment seeing new (to her) smart owners with their smarts.
