What did you name YOUR smart car? C'mon...I know you did!

We named ours "itibiti" and, because I had over a year to think about it, I came up with a list of over 30 possibilities (obsessive much??).

Every time I drive it, I constantly see drivers in my rear-view mirror mouthing the word "i-t-i-b-i-t-i"...then they smile! Mission accomplished!

Check out the web site I built for it at www.itibitismart.com and, oh yeah...did you notice "itibiti" is also a palindrome?

Top that!

I've had many cars over the years and have never named any of them. Well, I have, but their names have always been what the were. I still have my 1974 VW Karmann Ghia. It's name is "Ghia". My minivan's name is "The Van". My smart's name is "smart". Funny thing is, I'm an artist by trade. You'd think I could be more clever when it comes to naming my cars. Oh well. I do pat my cars on the roof and talk to them. Maybe I'm a bit nuts after all.
Our BonBonB Passion has the family name of Lil' Guy, his public name, i.e. lic. plates, will be EVLTWIN if I can get them. If not, I will order a Euro front plate with his name on it. His twin is an 03 Harley Nighttrain who was most happy to make his baby brother feel at home.

He has been welcomed into the family by:
Big Red, the F150, Blk Magik, the 85 'Stang GT, Nuclr Nanr, the Xterra, and Beep,Beep, the Jeep.

Yes, we have thing for vehicles, collecting them, naming them, etc. :-)
Love the "itibiti" plate. Wish we would have thought of that one. We named ours "Skoshi". It means "little" in Japanese. Figured since the engine was from there, it was a fitting name.
Don't have mine yet, but seeing how popular it was among Smartie owners to name them, I started brainstorming. Gidget? Gadget? Gizmo?

Then it hit me. I'm a fan of Brit-Coms, and in high school particularly loved the 90's sci-fi comedy "Red Dwarf". So I thought - "Starbug"! (One of the smaller utility ships.) Granted, Starbug is green and decidedly ant-shaped - both unlike my blue-to-be Smart - I also have a particular obsession with all things star-shaped and figured it would work perfectly.

I'm looking forward to picking up Starbug soon. :)
Mine is "ladybug" due to the fact it is red and black. I'm thinking of getting black spots painted on the car to match a ladybug's.
I named her Mignon Redbird (mignon is french for sweet and dainty). Since she was made in France, it fits also.
my cabriolet is named SMARTA

LOL...yep, we named ours the day we reserved it and hoped, when the time came, the name would not have been 'taken'. Like Billo, we eventually drew up a list of alternatives should we lose the one we really wanted but got very lucky. When we made our reservation it was for the yellow and black...and the comment made was "...cute..it's a bumble bee!" Since we were buying it for my S/O for commute purpose, I got to chose the name. "Her Bee"...cuz it is! Then again that works on the days I get to borrow and have fun with it! Even better was the news that they are not going to produce the yellow and blacks for 2009...yaaaayyy! Myself, I get a huge kick when I get her for the day and wear my black slacks and yellow polo shirt...onlookers seem to get a bigger kick. Hunted all over for a little stuffed bee mascot...took a while so initially found a yellow and black bird to sit on the dash but now, in the last week, found two bees...and, the Matchbox yellow and black cabriolet. Not quite our Passion but close enough. This little gem is more fun than a barrel of monkeys...and, as happened today, derive great pleasure at stop lights, signs etc. when someone pulls up alongside, grins, thumbs up and say "She's gorgeous..." and we know they mean the baby Bee.
Quite rightly. lol

Please, please do not take this the wrong way as I certainly am NOT trying to be insulting or an old stick in the mud. But why would you give your car a name?
