Brighten "UP"Interior with a little Paint!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Folks, Some Model paint for plastic, or Plastic Fusion paint is what youneed! I use model laquer paint from "Hobby Lobby" Color was "DAYTONA YELLOW" 1969 No28103. This is a more mutted shade of yellow, the reason is not to be TOO bright. As you will see that it works very well. Note You should use three coats of paint, and let dry before next coat!! Then finish off with two to three coats of clear coat laquer, either Gloss, Matte, or Semi gloss. DO NOT go over board on doing TOO much more of the interior, as it will BE Very BLINGEY!!!

ENJOY,

Looks great Pin! Who's to say what's too much bling though? I'll post pics of mine next week.....it may be a little "too much" for some - or even myself. We'll find out.
Your 'new' trim looks good. How did you get the various pieces off?
Will have the side dash panel completed in a few days. To remove light, turn, wiper stack caps, use a very small pick or screw driver and carefully pop off from base of cap!! Next to remove Clock/Tac trim rings, grab trim ring with fingers and pull toward you carefully, and they will pop off. Next the door suround trim is a little harder, at the bottom of the trim, facing toward the front of car there is a small port hole to place a screw diver to pry off!! But you will have to very carefully pry the trim off from the top all away around the handle. try getting a small plastic paint trowel to use as a shim to pry apart. Very important, you will have to slide the trim off the door handle, note driver side, slide toward back of car. There will be a 2-3" slat to side out before it will be free. Same on the Pass side, But pull toward the front of the car. Next is the side enp trim on the Dash, Those you unscrew from bottom, then pry apart.
Good MODing

Well Pin - you're making me feel better thinking I've blinged mine out too much. So far I've done the same stuff and just a tad bit more to include the steering wheel trim, the center shifter trim, button bank trim, and speedometer surround trim. My color is ever so slightly more toned down than the yellow too so it may not "pop" as much. Pics later this week - Saturday evening or next Sunday.
Bum-Bling-B,The color Red is not as bright as yellow!! It is easier on the eyes. So more is not bad!! Yellow on the other hand is very bright, and can be too much in a dark interior! My pix's prove this. I will do the center console around the ignition and shifter. But thats all.

Oh it's not my red Smart. I just painted my yellow w/beige interior car's panels lime green. Trimming out the interior with lime green too. The lime color is sort of similar to a Mountain Dew bottle color. Not a subtle as the red, but not as bright as the yellow. I have a car show next weekend and the local club is coming to support it and we're hold our meet there so I promised myself no pics until after the show - they get to be the first to see it.
I love the whole yellow inside look!

Is there ever a problem with the paint "peeling" off or getting scratched off?
Looks GREAT!
THE KRYLON FUSION PLASTIC PAINT is the best to use, but like all paint it will scratch off if abused. Take time and let dry and use multi coats for a strong finish.
The yellow is the closest you will find to match the Smart yellow.
