I just received this email from Smart USA and it SUCKS!:

Dear Michael,

Thank you for submitting a request to convert your current smart fortwo reservation to a 2009 smart fortwo BRABUS model.

Due to the overwhelming number of responses to this reservation opportunity and the limited availability of BRABUS models in the USA, we will not be able to convert your reservation at this time.

Your current reservation and DDE will remain as before. When your vehicle is nearing production, you will receive an invitation from smart USA to configure and finalize your smart fortwo reservation, including factory installed options.

Thank you again for participating in the BRABUS reservation program. If you have any questions regarding your current smart fortwo reservation, please contact smart Customer Service by email or at 1.800.smart.USA (800.762.7887).

Sincerely,

The smart USA Team
Michael,
Sorry about your email. Did you request your BRABUS immediately? Just curious if it was first come first served or just random. Does anyone know if it's 1,500 total or 1,500 cabrios and 1,500 coupes?
Hey Marc,
I requested it as soon as I received the email offering the Brabus. Guess I was not quick enough.
I'm very disappointed.
I have also received a confermation letter/e-mail too. Happy days!
Received this email today around 5PM. I'm so excited. I was lucky. I replied to the initial email in 10-15 minutes. They had website tech. problems initially I had to call corporate office to inform them. I waited an hour before they sent a new email with a working link. I think they did a "lottery" for the Brabus. I can't remember when I paid my $99 reservation but it wasn't a long time ago. Anyways, here's the email. Just wanted to share my excitement.

Dear RICO,
Congratulations! Your request to convert your current smart fortwo reservation to a 2009 smart fortwo BRABUS model has been accepted! You will be one of the first customers to own this very special smart fortwo model in 2009.
Your smart fortwo BRABUS will be delivered at smart center Lake Bluff.
A few things to remember:
• The $99 placed on your initial reservation will be transferred to the BRABUS reservation, and your initial reservation will be cancelled.
• Your delivery date for the smart fortwo BRABUS model may be different than your original reserved vehicle's estimated delivery date. BRABUS models will be produced from January-June 2009, with limited quantities produced each month. Because the BRABUS is a special production model, your delivery date may not appear for some time on the Delivery Date Estimator on www.smartusa.com. smart USA will inform you when your BRABUS model is within 90 days from delivery.
• Your reservation is non-transferable. Any attempt to assign or transfer your reservation will result in the cancellation of your reservation.
• As you have already submitted your configured request for your BRABUS model, this information at this point cannot be changed or modified.
Your local smart center will have demonstration and display models of the BRABUS coupe and cabriolet before the end of the year. We encourage you to contact them about arranging for a test drive and learning more about the additional exciting BRABUS accessories that will be available beginning in early 2009.
If you have any questions regarding your smart fortwo BRABUS reservation, please contact smart Customer Service by email or at 1.800.smart.USA (800.762.7887).
Sincerely,
The smart USA Team
I received my Brabus confirmation yesterday too. It sounds like it should arrive before my original order which had a DDE of Aug '09. I ordered the black. I can't wait!

We received our Brabus configuration and have a purchase and sales agreement with our RI dealership. We were surprised that the we had to place a $1000.00 non-refundable deposit, but were told that this because we are configuring a special order item (Brabus). My wife and I are excited about the Brabus. I wonder when will actually receive the vehicle.
Why buy a Brabus when it doesn't come with the more powerful 82HP European engine ??? Smart is charging TOO much premium over the Passion for minimal extra content in the American Brabus...
Order for a Passion placed in July '08
Got my upgrade letter and then confirmation on Oct 24

Looking forward to getting mine and then having panels made up with my company logo - it will be a real head turning vehicle!

I wonder if the coin holder accepts Euro's?

This how mine is configured:

Where did you go online to configure a Brabus?
The email was sent from Smart and I jumped in the line for Brabus. Shortly after I was sent the email that said I was selected to get one and then the instructions on configuration came through. Not many things to choose from in the way of add-ons.
