My car is totaled, but I'm not...here's how it happened...

Driving on I95 in CT a car on the exit ramp decided to cut back into traffic. He hit the car next to me, who then slammed into me . My car hit the guard rail
(at 70 mph) and bounced off like a ping pong ball, rolling three times before hitting the opposite guardrail (which then flipped me right side up). Thank god I was wearing my seatbelt, and driving this amazing car. I opened the door and stepped out. Very shaken, but not hurt. I'm a little stiff now, but other than that I'm perfectly fine. Time to get on the orphan list for another smart. MY SMART SAVED MY LIFE!!!

I WAS JUST INVOLVED IN A SMART CAR ACCIDENT!! The guy didn't see me on Route 34 and hit me at about 25 miles per hour. We both walked out of the car perfectly. They said at the Fairfield place where it is being rebuilt that my car is paving the way for future cars like this and how to repair it. Parts will take three weeks to get here and will probably be done in a month and a half. It is a miracle that I walked out and all the firefighters were extremely surprised that the car survived this well. I really miss my smart car, but MY SMART CAR SAVED MY LIFE!

comparing the damage to the other guy your smart looks great !
TnT, are you saying that my smart looked better? I don't know.
Too bad that happened to you. Scary. People who cause accidents should really be more careful to pick cars that are easier to replace than a smart.

Happy you are ok though.
I met a guy here with a smart. He was rear ended the first week he had the car. Only the plastic panel was damaged. Glad you were not hurt.
I glad to see you came out ok, just shaken. I hope you've gotten a lawyer.
to all those taking about my smart accident: I am not getting a lawyer; don't need one. Also, I am not getting an orphan because I only have about a month and a half out time for my car and am driving my moms van (oh how I miss the fun in driving!).
Brett,

I was driving by shortly after you had your accident. You may have seen me as my Smart is the same color as your's (though a passion instead of a Cabrio). Everyone where I work, asked if it was me as that's my route home everyday and they all know the color of my car.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident, though I was relieved to see and read your post that you were OK. I was amazed (and to be honest - thankful) that your car showed so much more protection and less damage than the other car. Particularly when that car was so much bigger (then again, what car isn't)

I was going to stop but with all the authorities there already, I figured it was under control.

I hope the time flies for you until you get your car back.

Bob
Evilbean42 - Glad to hear you are ok. Just wondering did your air bags deploy in the rollover? I could not see from the pics.
That must have been scary--did time seem to slow down while it was happening? So glad you are OK and delighted to see how well the safety cell protected you. Hope they can bump you up on the list so you can replace it soon. Best wishes to you!
to everybody: my car will be out for 5 weeks and damages are now $7,700. The parts were ordered today. Thank you everybody for your concern. Also, I am beginning to organize a smart car rally in Connecticut. Please spread the word!
To everybody; I have my car back and it is incredible! They really did a great job!
