I had the dealer add a clear shield on my white smart (about $400). I spent the money for one on my Lexus and I think it was worth it to protect from stone chips.
Yea, has anyone installed an invisible bra such as can be found at invisiblemask.com
I actually had the Clear Bra put on my car. In the drive from the dealer to my house 232 miles I must have hit every grass hopper in the state. Front end looked like a graveyard for almost every bug out there. I was amazed when I took the car to the car wash and I had just applied a pre-wash. Went back to the front with the soapy wash and it came right off. didn't have to touch it with a sponge or anything.... I was truely amazed.....I don't think I will ever buy a new car and not have this put on it. I was highly impressed with what the clear bra can do.....
i got my bra and mirror covers

those vinyl bra's or whatever they make them out of are the worst things i think anyone can put on a car. Yes, they protect the paint up front from road cinders and stuff like that, but the bra itself tends to do a number on the paint itself, especially once the bra starts to get a little loose from being constantly moved around by the wind. Not only that..... paint tends to fade. You put a bra on the car.... the rest of the paint fades..... so the car looks odd if you ever take the bra off.

The clear bra is something i thought about though. not to bad an idea. kinda like a screen protector for electronics.

OMG! I just got the visual of a smart with tan lines... ROLF! too funny. does the smart car bra help with frontal sagging? I see that there is a hole for the headlights to show through... I'm sorry.. I just saw the childish humor in it and brightened my tedious day!
Just a thought: But for 400 USD you could probably replace all the panels in the front and look like new any time you want. #M clear protection might be useful on the headlights tho... The smart is a different animal.
Toes: i think it'd cost quite a bit more than $400 to replace the front panel. I mean.... it would have cost about that much for the Smart Center to SWAP metallic blue panels onto my silver Brabus if i wanted them to.... and that was going from new to new. they wouldn't do the same if it was from a used Smart, especially if the panel is damaged. And i can easily see $400 being worth it if it'd go a fair bit around the front (can't remember), seeing as i already have a knick in my paint just in front of the wheel, and i seriously wouldn't want to have to replace the panel, and have my dragon re-painted.

Sato: haha, glad i brightened your day. It's the truth though. I'd never want to put something on a car that isn't sealed to the car. That'd be like putting a deal on the side of your car, but it only latches on to the door and body panels, instead of being stuck to the panels.
Donnyonee,

The clear bra that I have is a clear coating of a Plastic that is sprayed or kind of painted on the car.
It is not like what you have on your Smart. Actually I have not seen that type of Bra for the Smart before.

I have to say that so far I am pleased with the Clear bra that I had put on. 14,000 plus miles and it seems to
be holding up well.
Ryan,

I would (of course) replace the panels myself. Sounds like they add up to 360 USD ... By the time I would replace them I would go with an entire set anyways (and maybe a different color). That's about 1k total. (My car is parked outside so just protecting the front won't do the job in either case). There are a few smartusainsider members who have done the swap themselves in about two hours and that was taking it carefully and step by step.

YMMV,
t.
