All I see in the "discussions" is everyone's MPG ... are you having fun in the car? Are you happy with it?

I don't visit this "smart-site" very often, but I just paged through the 11 pages of "discussions" and mostly, all I see being mentioned is ... MPG. I'll have 25,000 miles on my smart cabriolet within the week ... for the sake of keeping up the trend, I'm still getting about 40 MPG (round numbers) ... it really seems to depend on how I am driving the car.
But more importantly to me, I love driving the car. First .. I'm comfortable in it. It's easier for me to get in and out of this car than any other cars I've owned ... that includes pick-up trucks I have to climb up into or cars that I need to settle "down into" and "climb-up" out of ... which with my knees and back ... presents some problems. The top goes up and down at full speed (I can't tell you how many times during the last year that I closed it up as it began to rain ... as other convertibles were pulling to the side of the road to get their "tops up." I park mine in the same parking space as my motorcycle ... I'm a real "hit" where I live, for not taking up more space than I need to. I've loaded the car up constantly ... sometimes putting the passenger seat down to be able to handle large or longer loads. I've driven to appointments with a guy I work with that weighs over 300 pounds (I weigh about 200) ... and the car performed like there was no change in the load.
I never used a heated seat until this winter (in this car) and I found it helped a lot. The only problem I've found with this car ... is it's small (length of time) warranty, and I took care of that myself, buing a 125,000 mile warranty ($50 deductible) from Warranty Direct. Everything I've needed to date (through 24,000 miles) was covered in full by my smart center (I've had it serviced ... oil changed and tire repaired ... at my usual service garage as well ... he's a smart-enthusiast too and had no problem taking care of me). SO ... this is my once per year check-in on this site... I hope you will all have as much FUN and SATISFACTION with your fortwo ... as I am having.

I've had a lot of fun with our 2 smarts. Especially by changing the looks of my wifes cabrio. (see pics on my page) I also use mine for work and it is a hit where ever I go. Sometimes I tow our scooters out someplace to go for a ride. Of course the milage is nice but I would still own one if gas were cheaper. I have wanted one ever since I saw them in Europe many years ago. I have visited the factory in Hambach twice and will visit again in June. If you ever get to Europe, stop by the factory. It is really worth the time.
I love driving this car....I am so glad that I decided to go through and buy it, think it is the smartest thing I ever did....with the economy starting to nosedive last year, I was seriously thinking of not going through with it. The money I'm saving in gas has paid off....I love going to work. It's a great commuter car. I don't like having to sit down in cars...this is like a lateral move, you feel higher than a sedan, I fell totally safe and un-intimidated on the highways. Someone told me (I haven't investigated) that there is a book called the 100 cars you must drive (kinda like the 1000 places you need to go book) and the smart car is in there! I too saw them in Europe 4 years ago and fell in love instantly. I think they are the best thing on the road that money can buy. They are recyclable, I like the way the company treats there employees...I like how they only are made to order...I think other car companies could learn alot from the little smart....
I Love My Smart Car! Her name is Shirley and she just makes me smile! I see other people smiling at her too. A friend hopped into her to zip down to the post office and on return her comment was "You just can't help smiling - I am still smiling". Just a fun car. Love it.
Past Halloween we piled 3 of us into shirl and drove downtown (all in costume) - what a hoot.
When on the highway zipping past big butt cars and trucks at 75 mph - SMILE.......
LOVE MY CAR
The first time I took my regular commute-mate to work (We had been taking his Miada) he kept looking over the features and the design and saying, “Oh this is smart,” And “Oh, I like that. That’s very smart,” And “ That’s a great idea. That’s really smart.’ He couldn’t understand why I burst out laughing.
Me, my wife and (lil angel)our dog.she sit at the back, have enjoy riding our brabus.Get about 36 to 40 mile a gallon. defend if someone want to test if the car has speed power.then I switch to stick padel and leave them staring when I excelerate.Mercedes Benz really did their homework to put this car together.A lot of people ask who made it,I tell them Mercedes Benz they think it cost a lot of money and told it's not for what satisfaction you get.Sometime, I let sit inside and they all surprise that the car has plenty of room.LOVE THIS CAR, MY WIFE SHE HAPPY AND WE KEEP CRUSHING..
Yes! Love driving my smartie! I'm having as much fun with it today as when I first picked it up in Feb. '07. I still get questions about it, and it makes me smile when I look at it. Plus, I'm adding some custom art to dress her up a bit--just on the back lower panels--but it is nearly as much fun to look at as it is to drive.

I only have 12,000 miles on it, but that includes a couple of cross-country trips--one from Chicago to Buffalo, NY; another to Arizona, another to Minnesota--and I've found it's comfortable enough on the long trips, and I love that I can plug in my mp3 player.

Enjoy...
Very good post!

I totally agree with you Turtlemen, I put 24k on my smart Passion in 10 months ( I knew I would so I purchased a 100k miles Extended warranty) and I never had so much fun! Jack, handles great and I love taking him everywhere. My husband was skeptic when i first decided to buy it, now he wants a Brabus edition. My daughter will be buying a Red and Black Passion, so we will possibly have three in the driveway when my daughter is home from school. Hope you all keep having a ball with your smarties!
Like it? You bet....but only half as much as my wife who I actually had a hard time convincing that we should buy one. It has it's little quirks, but we don't care. We get a tad bit under 40 miles per gallon but then we drive the heck out of it. With this car the most important thing to us is not the miles per gallon but rather the SMILES PER GALLON. - Dan
