Has anyone noticed that some drivers (especially of large pickup trucks) become quite aggressive behind your Smart Car? It doesn't seem to matter what lane I'm in or whether I'm moving with the traffic, some drivers don't seem to think such a small vehicle belongs on the road. I just smile and wave as they give me dirty looks and make ugly gestures because I'm loving my Smart Car!!!!

Alot of these people I suspect are either jealous of the gas mileage we get or they actually believe the vehicle they drive has something to do with the american automotive industry. Personally People are no more crazy then they are normally.
An M3 pulled out in front of me with little room to spare just a day ago. It seems that either people think oh he is driving slow or I'm bigger so HE has to slow down for me!... Needless to say I drove directly to Pep Boys and ordered the Hella twin supertone Horn kit. and will install it over the weekend. Our OEM horn just makes matters worse as they look at you in the rear-view mirror and laugh at your tiny existence. The M3 guy at the next light even got out of the car to have a word with me... He really thought I was at fault for not letting him in in front of me in brisk traffic!. Needless to say he got back in his car rather quickly once he saw that the tiny car had a 6'3" 280 lb ME inside.... that made me laugh a bit as they all judge far too quickly whom drives a smart... they think it only fits descendants of Tattoo from Fantasy Island...
well the horns are in and I cant wait to see how people react to these REALLY loud dual tone horns. they are rated at 118db.. I doubt they will reach that unless you wire them straight to the battery, but at least they are significantly louder and shall I say more old school Mercedes sounding than the OEM anemic one.
Let us know how they react, I'm understandably curious :)

How bout some more details on the horn installation, I'm curious about that as well. Maybe a pic or two?
Hi, I realize this is an older discussion but I just got Casper on June 13th (my birthday) and have had very positive (usually amusing) reactions but wanted to share the only negative experience. A couple of weeks ago I was at a Burger King and a woman parked next to me in a really big old fashioned type van. She jumped out and started literally screaming at me at the top of her voice that I was an idiot and might as well ride gown the middle of Glenway Ave. on roller skates. She kept on screaming and cursing and told me when I was killed in a crash I deserved it! I was flabbergasted but finally got it enough together to reply, "When God wants me, it won't matter if I'm driving a big gas guzzler or my very efficient Smart car; He won't care if I'm walking my dog or sleeping; when He calls - that's it, I'm gone!" I'm not a shove it in your faith Christian but she finally got on my last nerve. As for big tucks, they usually seem amused, mostly they grin at me. One driver did very kindly suggest that I be careful and think like I was driving a motorcycle because other drivers wouldn't know how to handle the Smart car's size. Mostly I get smiles, friendly honks, comments like "way to go Smart car" and so on. Kids seem to love it. When people see me for a 2nd time they joke with me. One man came up to me and very seriously said, "I'm so sorry to have to tell you this," and he looked out toward the parking lot, "but I think someone just shoplifted your car." We all howled. Keep on smilin' - Jan
