.... you do realise how odd that would be, right? for one, it'd basically be a ForTwo+Two. Second, it'd mess up the design, and probably make it even more squirly in the wind. Third, if people were sitting in the rumble seat (which i believe you mean like how some cars had a fold out seat that was basically the trunk), i can only imagine how it would affect steering by having weight behind the car, which could quite possibly lift some weight off the front wheels. I mean yeah.... it's a 1-ton car.... but i can't imagine there's THAT much weight up front when the engine and pretty much everything drive-system related is squished in the back.
A fold out rumble seat, resting on the tailgate with the hatch down, would be perfect for my mother-in-law...I would especially enjoy it in rainstorms and rear end collisions...Also, she couldn't interfere with conversations I have with my wife...

leaving her at home... outside would acomplish the same and not ruin your car with odd folding contraptions or DECREASED MPGs... LOL
Ok, it would not be practical, but it would be Cool!

We were just talking about this, a while back, a friend has one of the old cars, with the rumble seat. Maybe we need to have the inventor make it removable.... so you could drive around with it sometimes, like in a parade, and then take it out, for everyday driving.

:)
I must confess that I have taken 2 human passengers in my fortwo. Total weight including me would be 160+210+130=500lb. It was on private road for about 10minutes driving. The braking took longer and car handled very slightly sluggish but nothing more. It still hits 65mph no problem, climb 8 degree hill ok (engine complained a little). Adding the weight of a seat might be pushing the limit of payload though.
