Electric drive

I just ordered a smart electric drive, Does anyone else out there ordered one?  My dealer had a hard time finding out what options I could get.  This will be my 3rd smart.  Smart number one was a passion 2008, number two was a convertible 2011 and now number three electric drive convertible.  Drive smart out there and have a GREAT 2013  :)

I am desperately waiting to order my ELECTRIC DRIVE.

My understanding is that you can order ANY options that are available on a normal ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) smart?

Only smart centers in ZEV states are able to order at this time (don't know if Mass is on that list)?

Otherwise, you have to wait til Sept?

Enjoy the EV grin when you start driving.

I see you're close to Boston; I believe that Chicago is also a 'launch' city for the electric drive which we've also been waiting for the opportunity to order ... we heard that might come next month so your news was a pleasant surprise. I doubt that your dealer could give you an ETA on when you might see it but if he gave you a ballpark that would be good to share as well. We have an '08 passion coupe that we're planning to trade for the electric drive as we already have an L2 charger in our garage for one other car (a '12 Nissan LEAF). On the smart forum a few have said that a dealer has taken a deposit but no orders (that I'm aware of) yet so you could be one of the first ... hopefully MBZ 'accepted' it!

Hi,  They have told me some time in April.  I am in no rush. The dealer told me that they were getting 9 smart electrics. 7 passion and 2 convertibles.  I have ordered one of the convertibles and put a deposit of $1500.00. They also told me as soon as they know the ETA they will let me know. Thanks :)

I put down a $500 deposit with my local smart dealer (Beshoff Motors in San Jose). They said they are expecting 10 EDs by 1st week of April. Anyone else have more info on ED availability, options, etc.?

One of the folks on SCoA  (out west somewhere) said his dealer notified him his car had cleared customs and should be delivered in a week or two.

I just put down a deposit yesterday and was told mid to late May.

Good Morning, My dealer has told me that the cars are in the U.S. but are not letting them go until May. Let me know when any of you get yours :)  I am also having about 40 solar collectors put on my roof for solar electricity, for my house....and my smart car will be powered by the SUN :)

Not letting insiders know what is happening is part and parcel of the Premium treatment from MB.

I just found out how many thousands it's going to cost to get the 240 charging station set up.  Think I'll go with the regular plug.

I believe that you get a tax credit for both the car and the upgrade plug :)
