I would like to hear from those that made the upgrade.  Does it really give an increase in gas millage?  Do you just have better performance?  Or do you just like the sound?

I used to put Playing Cards in the spokes of my Bicycle... Yes, it made a big difference in the Vroom Vroom... But... It was no faster...

Mine L00Ks faster with a few dollars worth of caps

If you look at the Solo performance exhaust, it sounds just as quiet as the stock exhaust in some respect and it does give off a better performance. The current restrictive exhaust is exactly that; restrictive. I am getting the Solo performance exhaust to allow the car to breathe freer and I am also getting the SILA cold air intake to complete the package. It is worth it.
yea.... a cold air intake is definitely a nice addition. Seat-of-pants kinda leads one to think that it is increasing power, at least in the higher RPM's..... but either way, gotta love the throaty-ness that it gives when you really step on the gas. Who'da thought that the baffle box or whatever you wanna call it on the stock intake would quiet it as much as it does. I mean... as far as i'm aware, it's just a hollow box with a few inlets for air to go into....

As for the exhaust... i dunno. I'm rather happy with the Brabus exhaust... don't know if i'd want one of the aftermarket ones, not only for the already mentioned issues people seem to be having with quite a few of them, but a lot of them seem to make the car sound too.... how do i put it..... "beat up 80's Honda Civic with a 5" tailpipe"-like?
I would have to disagree with you on a few things. The reason why so many aftermarket exhaust have been breaking is because of the lack of flex pipe. This is something the original exhaust and the new exhausts are now incorporating. Also, I am not just getting the CAI for the sound, but the old air intake was so restrictive that it was not optimizing the cold air coming in from the side vent. Finally, your dual tip brabus exhaust is technically considered a "factory aftermarket" exhaust so you do really have an aftermarket exhaust from the factory. I would recommend you listen to the SOLO performance audio clips on the internet and tell me that is sounds like the Honda you mentioned. Also, is the radio always off? Also, is there no such thing as sound insulation?

Brett: With the mention of the radio and sound proofing material... i feel you're saying that about my comment about not wanting my car to sound like said Honda's. I say this not because i think it'd be too loud on the inside... but because i'd rather not be seen driving ANY vehicle with 4 wheels that sounds like a sport motorcycle, or more applicable, a garden variety weed whacker. I can't help but shake my head when i see such cars. They take something that is perfectly fine (especially so when it's what looks like a brand spankin new VW... pity when VW's get riced...) and try to make it like something in The Fast and the Furious... which i wish they'd realise isn't possible by spending a few bills on a fat exhaust and an oversized rear wing that doesn't suit the car at all.

And yes.... i've watched video's already with the aftermarket exhaust systems... which is why i know they sound like something i don't really want on my car. And while the Brabus exhaust IS technically an aftermarket exhaust, it doesn't sound all that much louder than the stock exhaust.
I have the Doug Thorley CatBack Exhaust, I noticed a power increase at low end (just starting off), no mileage increase that I can tell, and in my opinon it is pretty loud inside the Smartie during heavy acceleration, at a steady cursing speed not loud at all. Overall I like it :)
For what it is worth...I replaced my stock exhaust with one made by "Genius," all stainless steel and very well made. I also installed a silicone cold air intake purchased from "Smartmadness." All in all, I have improved my mileage to 40 mpg in city driving. I do not yet know what the highway mileage will be. Also, performance is quicker and smoother.
Loeber Motors sells an exhaust we designed with the help of an aftermarket company. It will give you two more horse power, and a smoother transition between gears. It has a wonderful low base that sounds sporty, but not over bearing. We have had zero issues with any breakage of any kind. They are also installed with a flex pipe, so it is very sturdy. Call my for pricing.

My DTH exhaust didn't give any mpg improvement or real power change, but it sounds good! (18K miles, no breakage, no flex pipe but I've probably just been lucky. I'd listen to the others and look for one with a flex pipe if you decide this mod is for you.)
Laura: ................ i fail to see the connection between an exhaust system and transmission control.......
Hi Ryan,
Sorry for the LONG delay, I'm not on here very much. I'm not sure of the technical terms, but what I do know is once I put this exhaust on my vehicle, the transitions were smoother.
