Although I enjoy my 2008 cabrio to the max, I am getting irritated that the seat belt does not retract by itself when I unbuckle and get out of the car. Is it just my car? Does anyone have any ideas about how I can fix this?

I also have a 2008 Cabrio. My selt belt retracts OK, but I have a problem with the passenger side seat belt locking up so that I can't pull it out to buckle it. Or, sometimes it locks in so tight when the passenger is wearing it that they can't move. Took it to the dealer. Had to wait for a part to arrive to fix it. Wrong part was delivered and had to wait again. Was "fixed" for about 3 months, then the problem started up again. In the meantime, I've moved across country and haven't had time to drive to another dealer to try to fix it again.
I have a 2008 and both belts have to be asissited back into the roller. Maybe this is something else to watch along with the heater blower?
Both my cars have always had problems with the seatbelt retraction. My theory is that with the seat slid all the way back (most legroom possible) the clip on the headrest puts a severe angle on the belt which slows down the ability to retract. If you take the belt out of the clip, it works fine.

As for the belt getting stuck in the center groove of the clip, that is a problem too. A little wide clear packaging tape will make the belt slide easier and not catch in the groove. Slide it through where the belt sits and run it up on front and back. It leaves a smooth path for the belt and keeps it from getting into the slot.

When you exit, try to lay the belt on the seat. It will still retract, and it won't get in the way of the door closing. I have had the door not close a few times because the buckle was in the door frame.
This is actually a safety feature that is on most newer cars. It allows the belt to be used for strapping in a child seat. Personally, I don't like it. I wish it could be turned off.
