Just upgraded my Smart stable.  While I love my 2009 Passion, it must now take a back seat in my driveway.  The current Smart electrics available on e-bay are just too hard to pass up, at least for me.  My 2009 has been a "daily driver" for about five years now.  When I analyzed my typical daily distance I realized that is well within current range of the 2014 electric Passion.  I have only had it three days.  I plug it in at night and it is ready to go in the morning.  I am sold on electric.

Any idea how many times you are getting on a charge?  I'm not against electric, but I need a vehicle that will at least go 250 miles on a charge.

Rob, I replied to this yesterday but must have hit the wrong "reply" button.  I don't see my reply so I will try to answer again.  I also once felt I needed 250 mile range to feel comfortable, then I analyzed my driving patterns.  I only use my gas Smart around town and rarely drive over 50 miles in a day.  With this Electric Smart I feel very comfortable with my daily drives.  Driving range depends a lot on driving style, same with gas.  I have gauges to tell me level of battery charge and drain on the battery level.  That one also tells me level of regenerative charge when I take my foot off the accelerator.  Also I get a digital display of my ECO driving style.  I think I could achieve a 100 mile day, but probably won't test it.  I charge at home, plug into a 110V outlet and get a full charge by morning.  For out of town my back-up is a Ford C-Max.

I think the electric is perfect for your situation.  But I do think Smart is making the wrong decision to completely get rid of the gas-engine smarts in the USA.  Some of us drive more miles.  I love my Turbo-Gas-Powered Edition #1 and it makes me sad to know that Smart is going to completely get rid of it in the future.  Now, if they can improve the charge range of the electric, then they might have me.  But for now, I think they are making a big mistake.
