I don't like when people touch my smart car
Maybe I just have bad luck but it seems everywhere I go I catch someone putting there dirty hands on my smartie. I know my smart is diffrent then most I have added and taken away certain things so my smart stands out even among other smarts. But it seems like people who don't have smarts just want to touch
such as today at the gas station a man was full blown trying to open my door and I had to push the panic button to make him go away

Opening the door is a bit much but get used to people wanting to touch it- even hug it. I have had mine for a year and a half and still field questions about it almost every single day. No other car gets a similar reaction from people.

I had a guy cup his hands on the passenger window to press his face close to see inside. I said, Hey, I'll open the door so you can see it better. Then I got out the windex out of the 'secret' hatch compartment and cleaned the window!

Sometimes you have to post some signs that say, "Please Do Not Touch". It doesn't stop everyone but it helps. I use these signs on my collector cars when I display them so hopefully people won't get inside or put their finger prints and worse yet scratch the car with their rings. I have run into some people who think that since you are displaying your car, it is public property. They look at me like I have totally lost my mind when I order them out or away from the car. You can't win them all but on the whole, most people will respect your vehicle.

After i got my Smart.... the very first event with the Smart Alec's Car Club of the Lehigh Valley that i went to, which was a little meeting outside the America on Wheels museum in Allentown..... someone went to move their car to a different spot.... but couldn't, because someone was sitting in it. Was the strangest thing. Heavily rude to sit in the car when the owner was clearly NOT in sight.... as well as without asking if it was ok. That's why i keep mine locked unless i'm right there.

I'm fine with people looking in my Smart and asking me questions I'll even let them sit in it if they are nice but I too have had to use the panic button when I was coming out of a store and saw someone who was trying to open the passenger door lucky I had it locked.

Like everyone else my smarty creates attention were ever we go. But please be aware of whos aproaching you. Driving a smart car saved my life 2/16/2010.
I stoped at a local store did shopping came out got into my smarty and started to drive off. I couldnt get her doors to lock so i knew the back door wasnt all the way shut. I pulled to the end of parking lot and went to shut the door. I noticed a man aproaching me. This hapens al the time, but if im alone i always get into her lock doors and have key in ecnition with my finger on panic button just incase. Well I didnt get all the way into mt car my left leg was still out the door. The guy had my leg blocked and he was blocking my car door, He said keep moving over im taking your car you and your purse with me. I thought the h u are, but was trying to stay calm. I knew never let then take you to a new location. So im trying to think how to get away. He keeps yelling ant me hury up move over. And it hit me smartys keys in middle he cant see what im doing. So I eased off her ebrak he yelled at me again i yelled back im trying, so i wiggle like i was trying to scoot over said a small prayer to god to guide me to shift the 1 gear down i needed to hit reverse. I started her yelled at top of my lungs the f you are and I backed out. He grabbed my shoulder and i ket moving with my leg still out the door hit him he jusped out of way. I threw her into drivr steped on gas she jurked i managed to get my leg in and the jurk slamed door towards me i slamed her shut and took off. So just be carefull dont become complacent because our smart cars do draw atention. But had I not been driving her id be dead cause he was saying no funny business im watching. But he dint know her ecnition was inbetween the 2 seats.

If you look at the windows, especially if they are tinted, you will find constantly nose prints and cupped hand prints ALL the time! smart should come with a 2 years supply of windex wipes!

I have that problem too. And hated it. I now have a Viper alarm that tells people to 'stand back armed by Viper!!' And found a bumper sticker that says "Don't touch me! I'm not that kind of car."

I haven't had anyone touch my Smart but am approached often and asked a lot of questions.
If I had issues with people mauling my Smart I'd consider getting a pit bull dog as traveling companion.
That or putting NRA decals on the rear windows
