Couple of questions for all of you out there...

I just bought a 2008 Fortwo Passion with 2,100 miles on it...I bought it from Carmax...it was supposed to be checked and ready to go...however I have my doubts...

Should I get the one year service even though I'm no where close to 10,000 miles?

What should be my main concerns the age of the car or the miles?  When should I do the first oil change in your opinion?

I have a daily commute of 140 miles so I'll be putting a good amount of miles on it.

I have watched a few videos about changing the oil myself...would you recommend it? or should i visit the dealership for the fist service?

Also...

any recommendations for the following:

Coolant type/brand

Brake Fluid type/brand

Oil type/brand

Thank you

The oil that is supposed to be used in the Smart is Mobil One 0W-40. I would get it changed since it has probably been a long time (if ever) since it was changed. Depending on your climate though, you can use a different weight oil. Check the manual, and depending on your ambient temps, you can use a 5W-40, or other weights.

I would also have a dealer check the clutch. Some of the 2008's had clutch problems which if not done under warranty can cost big bucks. My dealer here in Mass says that they have fixed every car that has the problem even if out of the mileage limit, so check this out.

Other than that, enjoy the car!
