Simple, inexpensive small MP3 player mounting
I use a very small 
Sansa 8GB Clip+ MP3 player and have been just setting it on the dash ledge, but it's so small and lightweight that it flops around when cornering. So, I decided that a small piece of velcro would help. Then, I wasn't happy with my small stereo cable, so I found a very short cable with 90 degree plug ends.
It's not the most glamorous installation but it was cheap, simple, within arm's reach, and fixed my original problem. The angle of these photos make it appear that the player obscures one of the radio buttons, but it doesn't. If someone else has a similar issue perhaps something like this might be the solution.

Looks good! Have you thought about running the cable under the lip of the center stack? I think there is enough room there for it and then run it into the glovebox.

I'm sure it could be done, but I'm not going to pull the stereo or anything too complicated to run the cable. It just needs to work for my commute and WV back road driving.
I did consider, and may revisit, running the cable under the bottom of the glove box door.

You cannot run the cable UNDER the glove box door. but you can run it out like you have it to the side and THEN under the plastic bezel that covers up the surrounding are of the radio. The mod will take you five minutes and there is no cutting or damage involved. the only tool you need is a torx 25 screwdriver or bit. You remove the center button console by just pulling it straight out.. there is a sole screw smack dab in the middle behind said button console that must be removed. once you have done that the bezel snaps off and lifts up exposing the radio and the sides. You will see the area between the glove box and the radio, and it will be evident how to run the cable. leave one male end exposed were you want the mp3 player to sit and it will be snugged by the bezel once you put it back on.
