Does anyone know of a qualified Smart Car service center, or mechanic, in Honolulu, that can do a simple tuneup on my Smart ForTwo?
I have zero confidence in the local Mercedes dealer.
I brought my vehicle in for a simple 10k check and the promised time was 11am, actual completion time was 1:30pm.
Worse yet, they tried to hit me up for some additional unnecessary services. The car only had 3,500 miles on it, yet tire rotation and fuel injection services were recommended.
You do know that you don't rotate tires on a smart unless you have changed to all four the same size. Sounds like your dealer is not very knowledgeable or is trying to make a fast buck on you.
Matt Hodges Autoworks at 920 Punahou (shop is behind the houses), 947-6770.
He has worked on my 2009 several times, and he is very honest in his dealings. He specializes in Lotus and Volvo, but has worked on smarts since the prior model as well. He does not have capabilities for some tasks, but will let you know...tune ups, no problem.
You are right not to trust the MB dealership, they tried to sell me a brake job at 20K, and, most recently, it took THREE days for them to replace a damaged tire. They had none in stock, and had to ship from mainland. Of course, they strung me along as if they were just getting it from a supplier on island, so rather than renting a car so I could take care of business, I ended up losing two full days of work. But, hey...they do have donuts, er, "croissants" in the waiting area.
Give Matt a call...
