Heya y'all. Im from Houston, and took delivery of my Silver BraBus in July 09. It was an orphan, and I LOVE IT. What a Car. The engine is a stock Passion engine... and since its under warranty, I probably wont chg it. It does Ive got questions about re mappng, turbo etc, and if upgrading the performance will take my MPG Down. (DuH !!) Hahaha. Well...I love the 39mgg I get...and LOVE the BraBus look. Everybody on here sounds nice...and their cars sound VERY accessorized. Id love to hear about performance upgrades, their effects, and what the sacrifices to mileage etc are. Just for fun. Thanks Everyone !! Drive those SMARTS !! What a Blast.

I have had my Brabus Cabrio since Feb. I was living in Dallas and there is a great Smart Club there that gets together at least once a month, goes to parades and "green" events. Most if not all the Smart owners in the DFW area are very excited to see others driving Smarts and wave, blink lights etc when they see each other. I moved to CT in Sept and have yet to find a Smart owner willing to wave, never mind show any reaction to another Smart. Too bad. We are a great group of people and since we bought the car we should be proud of it.

I would just like to thank everyone that has joined BSO.
In Europe, this car does not suffer from inferiority complex like it has here in North America. It's is my opinion that comments on this very site show the kind of comments that the Smart has endured. i.e. poll section comments: It states when is the best time of year to drive a Smart? That's crazy, you brought the car, are you only going to drive in certain season only! The car is meant to be driven all year around. We BSO's like our car just like the European's do, so we must step up to set ourselves apart from other American Smart Owners that think placing a "Wind up Key" on there car is the way to go.

IH80PEC, congrats on your Brabus, and I am sorry that you and all other Brabus owners got robbed of items that are on the Euro model. But, there is a solution to this problem, "Form Relationship with International Seller". I personally have relationships with a Mercedes-Benz Dealer and two other sources in England, I also have a relationships with someone who use to work at Smart, and now has his own site, plus other source to buy from, these two are in Germany. My point is if you want you car to be a European Style Brabus and/or unique you must buy from the people who have a 14 year head start. As far as the turbo, there are now 3 companies in the United States producing turbos for the 451. P.S. I have a 08' 451, and it took a year to find sources that would sell me the Brabus Speedo, this is by far the hardest item to buy. Now my speedo, tech gauge and clock are in, and doing well by the way speedo is in MPG! Moving forward to getting performance 3-spoke steering wheel.

Got my black brabus May 30. it's a great car. I enjoy fast eccelaration and I think the Brabus that I have has it.I dont know if the regular smart can do what the brabus does I never test drive a regular smart car. Thank for all the info you gave MARCELLO. Post a picture of your shifter.

Try remapping, not at your local Smart dealer, but aftermarket companies. the car will achieve better performance. from the relationship between engine, transmission and shifting gears.
Have the remapping company take off all limitation place on the car by Smart.
i.e. these are the kind of things Brabus does will Mercedes-Benz brand. I totally disagree that the car is fine as is, when it can be so much more.

Currently, I am still obtaining Brabus interior parts, almost done. It is my opinion the three most elusive parts of the Brabus Smart brand are the Speedo, Shifter "B" Knob and of course Brabus Engine. there are places now in North America to up grade your engine, so for now I'll discuss the other items. The shifter "B" knob we know it not met to fit on American Smarts standards, only Euro's. and the speedo, some of you are aware there are sites selling the Brabus tachometer and clock. What's the use of buying that if the speedo does match. In most cases this item is very, very hard to purchase. Believe me I have tried and tried. So I am posting this hoping you future BSO's will share in my joy!

I am now the proud owner of a Brabus Black Face Speedo that reads in MPG!
Now I can buy the Tach and Clock finally to match. Next Brabus leather door panels, dash and knee
broads. I have people working on the "B" knob fitting problem will keep you posted.

Comments For The Future: This is about representing your brand both Brabus-Smart.
over half the people in North America never heard of Brabus and that current Smart 451 is the 4th gereration of the Smart brand that has been manufacturing cars for 13 or more years .
So it is up to us to do our part in the U.S. and represent both the "STYLING and PERFORMANCE" of these automotive firms. This should be our motto "S&P" NO "S" without the "P" and
NO "P without the "S". This Is The BRABUS Way.

My renovations plans for own my car has always included adding a turbo, to become more European and German Brabus-Smart like. As of a month ago my turbo consultant told me if I am willing to remove the engine from the car for modifications they could get it up to 200 (BHP)
Brake Horse Power. Stay tuned you know I am going for it, them I can wipe that stupid laugh off the
faces of drivers who own the Mini and Mini S.

One of the most over used terminologies of the Smart brand is
"that's a cute car" it's becoming a catch phase were I live. I know to some it cute, but I want to leave the seen knowing that it has performance as well.

The Brabus brand is not only a look, it's about performance as well. Achieving the ultimate performance regardless of size. Is anyone out there looking to bring the German out of this car, let's share. Just a little about the "B"...

Brabus, founded 1977 in Bottrop Germany by Klaus Brackmann and Bodo Buschmann,
is a tuning firm which specializes in Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Maybach vechicles.
Brabus primary focus is to achieve maximum engine performance through the increase
of both horsepower and torque.
Customers can either buy cars straight from Brabus or send in their Mercedes-Benz to be customized and/or overhauled. If a customer orders a car from Brabus, Brabus buys the particular car from Mercedes-Benz and then modifies it in-house according to the customer's requests. Brabus is known for providing top grade tuning and custom solutions.
Brabus offers simple upgrades such as low profile spoilers, body kits carbon fiber splitters, and multi-piece alloy wheels. More serious upgrades include racing LSDs, open racing exhaust systems, twelve-piston disc brakes, and engine remapping. However, most customers pay for complete engine overhauls for which Brabus has become famous. The company typically orders crate engines from AMG and completely redesigns them.
Brabus engines range from small 200 horsepower (150 kW) K4 blocks for SLK roadsters and CLK-Class to 730 horsepower (540 kW) twin-turbo blocks for the
CL-Class, CLS-Class, G-Class (1) and S-Class. The company also provides improvements to the interior from custom upholstery, gauges, shiftknobs, pedals, and trim to various electronics such as wider LCD screens for the Maybach.
