we'll be there.
Hello everybody! It has just been far too long since we've hooked up and at least some of you have commented on meeting up again. I know Karen and I have missed seeing you. So, would any of you be interested in meeting on Sunday, July 13th...that usual 2nd Sunday of the month? If so, I would suggest the California Pizza Kitchen in Schaumburg for want of any other place at least to get started on meeting up once again. πlease let me know.
Welcome to the group Jwight. clicker is right, it's been more than slow for a while. Maybe with the long winter coming to an end folks will come out of hibernation and maybe we'll have some meets next this spring and summer.
found another place that works on smarts, I cracked my charcoal canister, ran over something in the winter, pulled back the cover under and that cracked which then went up and cracked the canister, 520 at the dealer, gearhead in glen Ellyn wants 412., and NorthShore Motor Works on Milwaukee, near touhy in niles, will install it for 95.00 if I got the part, called up smart madness, they directed me to ebay which had the part for 65.00, so if interested in north shore, 847-647-8717
im interested in learning how to drive with stick, can anyone teach me
Happy Snow Year to all...
Thought I'd let everyone know I bought a set of four Blizzak snow tires and installed them on the stock rims. I drove them through four snow events including New Years Eve and NY Day.
This is the 5th winter I’ve driven the smart but the first with snow tires. What an incredible difference they make. The car grips and corners much better. I like to have fun in the snow and folks were shocked that I was able to zip by and around them. The look on their faces was priceless. When they caught up with me at red lights a couple of folks asked me how the car could handle so well in the snow.
As an added bonus when the road is dry the tires ride a bit softer then the stock tires as well. They absorb the bumps just a bit better.
If you have been thinking about buying snow tires they are definitely worth it.
I have discovered a local repair shop that works on foreign cars including Smarts. It is called 'Gearhead Auto Sales and Repair, Inc." 575 Forest Ave. Glen Ellyn, IL. 630-469-4353. It is in the heart of the downtown area. Very friendly. Glen Ellyn is an upscale town where many residents drive expensive foreign cars, so they expect good quality car service. It sure is nice to have someone other then the dealerships available.
