About the badging, it's 3M automotive grade like Toes said. In hindsight, I like the dental floss idea for the actual badge removal. If you have a roll of duct tape, that will help pull any remaining badge adhesive without affecting the car's finish (I've never used Goop or Goo be gone).
I've gone through a couple of cycles of having to replace the Transformer badging on our two smarts and I'm glad to have the duct tape around. Soon I'll be doing this a third time as I found some metal badges that should be more tolerant of Colorado roads.
Thanks everyone for stopping in on Saturday, we had a blast!
I just got a new green SMART for an early birthday / Christmas present from my wife! Thank you honey! She has been scheming about this since July, but kept it secrete from me the whole time! That had to be driving her nuts...
A big thanks to MB Westminster for helping Tia with her surprise! Especially thanks to Katie O'neil for her help. Of course, now the entire dealership was in on it as well... :-)
