Come join us for our Santa Hat Project for our smarts. We plan to start the sewing in October and then drive our cars, with the hats, in one or more of the local holiday parades.

Pics of the sample and other details are at the other end of the link.

Pattern and materials have been selected and will need to be ordered no later than October 9th, hat count by October 1 would be best.

Cost $25.00 per hat

Mike, thanks for the info. I'll try Smart Center Cary, Winston-Salem wasn't the least bit interested in helping me acquire and install the fogs. They will help Sue's night blindness.

Charlie & Sue,
Any authorized smart service center (smart Center of Cary, for instance) can install smart factory-supplied fog lights for ~$350. These will fit the front fascia of your wife's smart with no cutting, welding, or rewiring necessary. They will plug into the existing wiring, and the service center will add a new fog light button to the center switch console. The on-board computer will need a minor program adjustment to allow fog light use only when the headlights are on. I want to have this same work done on my cabriolet at some point. I missed the fog lights and tach on my initial on-line order form. Good luck!

I went to MB Winston-Salem looking for a foglight kit and installlation. They said they couldn't gey a foglight kit. The alternative was to add aBarabus twin headlight assembly for $700 +labor, even then he wasn't sure they do it. I want a functional, factory issue, installed in my Smart. Does anyone know of a parts source and someone qualified to install it? this is my wife's car and she has night blindness. Our original order was for a foglight equipped car but an orphan came available and jumped on it. Hope someone can help. Also, in regards to Larry's comment is it possible to install cruise and for how much? My wife would be in Seventh Heaven. I'm also inthe Hickort area.
Thanks, Charlie and Sue Sharrard

Anyone know of a good place to have work done like adding cruise control, in the Charlotte, or better yet, Hickory area?

Found the smart under the snow...

Well I finally dug "Squirt" out from under the snow. The first major snowstorm she was tucked away in the garage. During the last snowstorm she got caught outside. I shoveled around her yesterday and started cleaning her off today. When I finally got the snow off the windshield I noticed the inspection sticker said January... just great. I had to go out so I took the Subaru. When I came out of the store someone had parked a yellow 2008 smart parked right in front of me. I just hate when Squirt m… Continue

Tax deduction???

Since it is tax time, and I bought my Smart in 2009, I was wondering if anyone knows of a tax deduction they have received since purchasing their Smart. I remember something early in 2009 about the government giving a tax rebate/deduction (of some sort) to vehicles that are good on gas consumption. Well, my little Smart has been averaging approximately 59-61 mpg. Yes, you read that right. I am not talking about the cash for clunker program that has since been gone for a long time. If anyone has… Continue
