As of 7/19/10:
smart CARolinas is now a member supported website and club. Members pay $5 a year for access to the entire site and to attend club events.

When you sign up you will be sent information on how to pay the yearly fee.

The website has gone into private mode. All non paying members have been put in suspension. All future members will need to register for an account and will be given a 1 week free trial to see if they like the site. After that a payment will be needed to continue access.

Come join us for our Santa Hat Project for our smarts. We plan to start the sewing in October and then drive our cars, with the hats, in one or more of the local holiday parades.

Pics of the sample and other details are at the other end of the link.

Pattern and materials have been selected and will need to be ordered no later than October 9th, hat count by October 1 would be best.

Cost $25.00 per hat

Mike, thanks for the info. I'll try Smart Center Cary, Winston-Salem wasn't the least bit interested in helping me acquire and install the fogs. They will help Sue's night blindness.

Charlie & Sue,
Any authorized smart service center (smart Center of Cary, for instance) can install smart factory-supplied fog lights for ~$350. These will fit the front fascia of your wife's smart with no cutting, welding, or rewiring necessary. They will plug into the existing wiring, and the service center will add a new fog light button to the center switch console. The on-board computer will need a minor program adjustment to allow fog light use only when the headlights are on. I want to have this same work done on my cabriolet at some point. I missed the fog lights and tach on my initial on-line order form. Good luck!
