PERHAPS IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO CONTACT SOME OF THE
OTHER MICROCAR BOARDS SO THAT THE OWNERS OF SOME OF THE OLDER CARS WILL KNOW ABOUT WHAT THE SMART CLUB IS UP TO .

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MICROCARS IN THE RALEIGH AREA FOR 25 YEARS . I HAVE OWNED A DOZEN OR SO DURING THAT TIME AND
CURRENTLY HAVE TWO ISETTAS A MESSERSCHMITT AND A FREEWAY THAT I WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE TO SMART EVENTS .

THE PROBLEM IS , I DIDN'T KNOW THAT ANYTHING WAS BEING ORGANIZED UNTIL AFTER IT WAS OVER .

Hello David - Welcome!

Actually, the Triangle smart Owners' Club meet info ran in the Raleigh News & Observer Friday Auto section for two weeks (Fri Jul 18 & 25), and on this site since Jun 17. We had nineteen smarts, and probably double that many joint owners in attendance, as a result. The furthest drive-ins were from Hickory and New Bern. As luck would have it, the local Porsche owners' group was also meeting in Brier Creek Commons, but guess which cars stole the show! We're just getting organized, so thanx for bearing with us. I know our group would love to see your vintage micros, and micros of any make, model, or year are ALWAYS welcome! We did have one Geo Metro (Suzuki Swift) convertible join us. I myself have previously owned a Chevy Sprint (pre-Geo), a FIAT 850 Spyder, and an Autobianchi Bianchina 500. I've always wanted an Isetta, Janus, Vespa, or Goggomobile, and previously belonged to the M&M Club. Keep watching this site for info about our next quarterly breakfast meet (Oct-Nov?), and please join us.
Keep an eye out on the events section and at the SmartCarofAmerica website. The Charlotte group (not by any means limited to Charlotte!) is having a meetNgreet country road trip August 30 from Charlotte to Shatley Springs, NC...There is a posting in the events section of the Insider.

We've love you to join us....
