My 2009 Passion got sideswiped by a Toyota Tundra on the Reagan Tollway in Lisle on August 18th, spinning me out into traffic (where my guardian angel prevented any additional impacts!) and then back into the concrete wall on the right side of the road. 

 

I woke from the impact with a gash on my head (11 stitches required), some bruising from the seat belt, and sore neck and chest muscles--and a nurse applying a compress to my head wound.

 

My insurance totaled the car, but the payout check completely covered the cost of a used 2008 Red Cabrio, so I'm back on the road!  (And the Toyota driver's insurance is paying for it all.)

Hi Susan,
My accident was much less severe, as we were both moving in the same direction when I got hit.

Hey John - it really is amazing at the "punch" these cars take with relatively little damage. I was hit by a Ford Expedition going around 50mph (I was stopped). It launched me like a football through the trunk of an Acura (also stopped). The Ford must have thought he hit a ping pong ball, cause once he bounced me out of the way, he took off. Damage repairs were under $4k, happened 18 months ago and I am still happily cruising everyday in my Smart.

End of October '09 was when Piglett got sideswiped by a woman in a Mercedes ML 350, who came up fast behind me and passed me on the double yellow, just as I was taking the left fork in the road. She got my entire left side and both wheel rims. The accident left me with relatively minor damage that didn’t affect the ability the drive. She needed her right front fender repaired a new running board. Three weeks in my dealer’s body shop (due to insurance adjustments and the Thanksgiving holiday) and my Piglett was fixed good as new.

All details can be found on my page somewhere. The latest wreck was a rear end collision with a Ford F150. Once again, I am fine and the truck turned out worse than my car.

What??? Another wreck? What happened this time? You were T-boned last time and I certainly hope that was not the case this time. Did the little car hold up well during the wreck? WEre you injured? Details please~

Two accidents later, my Smart car is back to normal. Every issue has been worked out thankfully. Just finished my last trip to my Smart repair shop last Saturday for an airbag squib. Hopefully, she will be done her accident prone ways and give me a chance to actually enjoy her. Now, it is time for some cold air intake mods and exhaust mods to tell her thank you for keeping me safe.

Way too many people qualifying for this club! On the good side, I got a notice from my insurance company today that my rates were going down due to the "overall safety performance" of my type car! Glad they finally recognized that fact!

Well this is one group I really didn't want to become apart of but oh well. A young guy pulled out in the right lane next to me to only cut it short and bounce into the curb. This caused him to jerk it back to the left, which he did to far and right into my path. It was so fast, but I came out Okay. My Smart is bruised real bad but I will not know the extent of the damage until Monday or Tuesday. Can anyone tell me if their air bag deployed, how much was the damage and was anyone's totaled. I have a few pics on my page, take a look. Thanks DAWG
