Whoo! Back up to 43mpg. Two weeks ago the route I normally take was closed which led to traffic and more city driving. My last average was all the way down at 38mpg.

@XCAPEPOD I will friend you. DM me their contact information and we will tak with them as well.  I feel like there could be a greater partnership here with them.

@Eric: smart was in the top 10 on Fuelly, but the top 10 list is based on the total numbers of a make/model registered on Fuelly. With smart sales being what they are, it's unlikely that smart will regain a spot in the top 10 as it stands now.

However, I have communicated with the folks that created Fuelly and lobbied for various improvements. I'd like to see a greater focus on efficiency and showing those vehicles that obtain the best "real world" MPG. Perhaps smartUSA could respectfully request such enhancements as well? They were very approachable and did respond to my e-mails.

I have done my own stats using their data, but it's not an easy process. The smart was in the top 5 for efficiency, but that's been a while back.

If the price of fuel goes up, I am ready!

With gas prices rising (and even if they are not) this is such a cool thing to rally around.  I would love to see smart in the top ten on this site.

Metallic Red was the only red  for 2008 smarts some drivers call it  Tomato Red, it's kind of an orange red color. Actual paint, not solid color plastic like the '09 Rally Red.

I don't think I've seen  the Metallic Red yet. Interesting.

As far as "twin cars" goes, with the difference in years the car colors are different. Mine is metallic red and hers is rally red. The difference is visible to the eye but seems to confuse my digital camera.

She drives farther to work than I do so we take mine for weekend trips, so more highway driving for mine. Both our weekday drives come to about 50/50 highway/city driving.
