Anyone know how you can get moved up in the list? I am scheduled to get my Smart in Dec-Feb, but really need it by Early Sept.
Thanks!

No way to get your ordered car moved up the list. Much better to call the delivery center and get your name on the orphan list and be willing to get something close to what you wanted. If you do this then make sure you know before hand exactly what you will not live without. One of our members picked up her car after two weeks this way. She didn't really want a Cabrio but decided she could live with it. Now she absolutely loves it and when her reserved car comes in her husband is taking it.

I can back Stuart up on the ORPHAN issue!
My scheduled delivery was (still is) June-August 2009. I put myself on the orphan list and Shane at SMART Bloomfield hunted for one. He found one in 3 days...but it was nothing like what I wanted so I passed. 3 days later, he called with a car that matched my color scheme. It was a PASSION as opposed to a Cabrio and had cloth instead of leather seats and no tach or clock (which I can get later) but did have an upgraded radio/ speaker package, , pin stripping, and the balance of the comfort package.
All in all, I am SUPER happy I went with and orphan!!! I have kept my reservation in case a second car will be needed for the family....i have a college bound one in fall of 2009 and he may get the Chevy HHR.

Hi Anne,

THe only way we were able to get our smart was to select one of the orphans on the lot. We wern't too picky so it worked out.

Thanks all. I have called the dealership and gotten my name on the orphan list. I'm okay with it if I have to wait. I like the kind and color of Smart I choose, I know from what I've heard it'll be worth the wait :)

I was soooooooooooooo disappointed I wouldn't be able to get my Smart before the lease was up on my Chrysler. What the heck? Who ever heard of waiting a year and a half for a car!!! I just happened to look at Craigslist and saw one listed just 30 minutes from our house! Needless to say we bought it and I have been a HAPPY owner since March 15th. Our cabrio is still on order and our '09 graduating MSU senior wants it! So, Anne, I would say sign up for an orphan and check craigslist!
