Lloyd, congrats on the upcoming retirement. The suspension and shocks sound like a good move. Your going to miss out on a fun time at Nationals. I'm looking forward to the mountain drives with all the other smarts. At last count there are 90 smarts (cars) signed up and that number is growing daily.
Hey Jill. Sure have missed you and your significant other. It seems that the club has come to a "halt" with your move. Yes, the Kumho's are good. I have installed them too. And, I have outfitted the Smart with B&G suspension springs with Bilstien shocks. I now don't feel the bottoming out I used to get with the stock setup. It did require a realignment of the front end due to a 1" drop all-around. No problem. It was done at a Firestone Center which has all of the data needed to service Smarts. Well, anyway, I don't think I'll make it for the Nationals. Still working, but I am about to totally retire. Done with this "time clock" thing. Take care and watch out for the "Tumble Weeds".
Anyone in Tulsa or Oklahoma planning to go the the 2013 Smart Nationals Convention and Car Show? https://smartcarnatls.com
This is going to be funfilled week of driving with other smarts, swapping stories with other smart owners, seeing how people from all over have modified their smarts, driving in the mountains, attending workshops and shopping the Smart Nationals Vendors. There will be a camper dealer, cruise controls for sale, and many more vendors and activities to participate in. Jim and I will be there with our smart and probably the camper in tow. https://smartcarnatls.com
Hey Tulsa Smartie's. We miss getting together with the Tulsa group. There are a few smarts here in Beaumont and we've made contact with one of them. We replaced our tires with Kumho's and are liking them.
Hey, you guys enjoy your time together. Remember, December 21, the end of the world. Just kidding. I went to the Kumous (sic) tires and there is a small improvement in ride. Road noise went away. Now to see how the wear goes.
I don't really think the group will continue. There is too much "daily lives" going on. I will, of course, support the Smart program as I believe that it is "one heck of a car"! I am waiting on the "Turbo" model. The Europeans don't support the turbo because of their higher octane fuel, of which we don't get. But, they do recommend that the "Americans" get it due to their lessor government regulated octane fuels. Hmm, are we now a "second world nation?". Take care and best wishes.
Thanks Lloyd we will miss the drives with you and the others. I'm sorry I didn't get more drives scheduled this summer. It was a busy one with Jim working 6 to 7 days a week. Hopefully someone will take over and start planning some get togethers.
Sorry to see you great people go. You have been a great couple to be with. Best wishes. Tell Jim that the module that he recommended is working great. I also just installed Kumhos and like them. Take care.
Aww Alex, we'll miss you. Remember, don't worry about the toll booths, they don't take "smart" bucks. (Sic)
I won't be able to make it, I'm afraid. I'll be driving back from Florida. And yes, I'm driving the smart car!
