I have only one spare tire left and one 9 spoke wheel. $100.00 for the spare and $50.00 for the wheel.
My 2008 yellow smart is for sale too for only $9,000.00. Please contact me through this site and I'll get back with you. If you have my regular e-mail address, you can contact me that way too.
Thank you,
Bruce

I hope everyone is doing fine and getting through all this heat ok.
I now have wide wheels and tires installed on the front of both my smarts and I have four used front wheels/tires for sale as a replacement or a spare for your smart car. I also have one used tire without a wheel for sale. The tire/wheel assemblies are $100.00 each and the tire is $25.00. Please contact me through this site and I'll get back with you. If you have my regular e-mail address, you can contact me that way too.
Have a great weekend,
Bruce

Hold your dealer to task. It probably is normal wear, but they should have measured the pads and the brake disks so you have an idea of the wear rate. Just a visual inspection is pretty lame, unless they just did a no cost courtesy check.

If you got charged, you should get some quantitative analysis, and that would give you some ease of mind.

As said, it probably is normal wear, but you should have some idea of the rate. How many miles do you have on your car, and do you know how often you replaced brakes on your previous cars? (to give an idea how hard you are on the brakes.)

Cheers and good luck, Bob

Has anybody gotten a reddish-brown "dust" on their front wheels/hub caps? A guy in my office said it was brake disc pads being worn down excessively. I freaked and took the car to the dealership (Mel Hambelton Ford), but they said it was the normal wear and tear on the brakes, and that sort of thing happened to small cars. The mechanic recommended I get ceramic parts for replacement when it is needed. Anybody have words of wisdom for me? Thanks--Cindy

Here are a few photos from the Smart Nationals. Not great quality (the photos, not the cars), but you might get the idea.

Wow Tomcat - those are the two things I would love to get: cruise control and armrest storage, so I am jealous. Wish I could have made it up for the event - I bet it was way cool to see all those cars together!

I went to the Nationals for just one day (Friday) but enjoyed it a great deal. I haven't heard the official numbers, but I counted 86 cars on Thursday night in the hotel parking lot, with representation from 31 states and 2 Canadian provinces. I'm sure that many more arrived on Friday and even more for the weekend. As might be expected from a group of people who would drive many miles to something like this, everybody was really into Smart cars and there were lots of custom paint jobs and clever personailzed tags.
Several companies had booths selling Smart stuff and a couple were doing installations in the parking lot. I had a cruise control installed by Smart madness and an armrest installed by another.
I neglected to bring my camera, but I took some photos with my cell phone. As soon as I can figure out how to get them out of the phone, if they're any good, I'll post them.
I had to come back to Wichita on Friday evening, so had to miss many of the official festivities on Saturday. It looked like there were several showers and thunderstorms roll through there over the weekend, so I hope that didn't dampen the enthusiasm too much.

Hi Jill welcome to the group, hope to see you around, enjoy your ride.

I would love to go, but I will be just returning from out of town and don't think I will be able to make it. If I can I will drive up just for Saturday. I am really interested in seeing all the accessories in person - and in just seeing so many cars together.

Andy, we're pretty sure we won't be able to get to the Nationals, but if we could get up there for one day, which one would you suggest, and which event..
Wish we could get there for the whole thing, will look forward to hearing all about it!!
