No... Freaking... Way!!! I would LOVE to be wrong about this! It IS possible... I was wrong once in the 90s... I probably won't sell the 2013, but I would like to add a 453 cabrio to the stable!

Not so sure about that:

"Automotive News Europe
July 22, 2014 06:01 CET

BERLIN -- Daimler's Smart division will offer electric and convertible versions of the redesigned ForTwo it unveiled here last week.

The new ForTwo will arrive in European showrooms on Nov. 22 alongside a new four-seat ForFour. Daimler r&d chief Thomas Weber said the EV and cabriolet models will come later."

Rumor is we'll see the 2016 fortwo in showrooms in "late 2015" - about the time the cabrio is supposed to come on line.  My guess is US buyers will be able to order both the coupe and cabrio from the start of US production.

It is ASSUMED (by Smart) that buyers would no longer be willing to pay extra for a cabriolet, so they couldn't justify the expense of design and engineering. Strange reasoning... I paid extra for mine. I would pay extra for a new one. I have no desire whatsoever to drive a hardtop, so no 453 for me...  Which is OK...  I'm very happy with the 2013...

What makes you think that?

The sad fact is that a 453 Cabrio will NEVER exist. That's the main reason I will not be trading my 451 Cabrio for the 453...  Sad...
