We havent' taken the smart car out in the snow yet. Thought the big heavy front wheel drive Toyota Avalon we have might be better. Being retired we don't have to go out if we don't want to so that is good.
Happy Holidays Nancy
You can order the cruise control from SmartieParts at
I think this is a great cruise control. I use CC a lot on all of my cars so I don't speed around town or on the interstate. I believe the cost was $478 and for me it was money well spent---wouldn't be without it. POC at Smartie Parts is Steven Moorehouse--great guy and extremely responsive if you have any problems or questions. I'm in Willliamsburg so a bit far from you but if you wanted to make the trip I would be glad to install the CC.
I haven't rec'd mine yet but the dealer said Oct 5th. I just returned from UC Davis, and saw a yellow one parked on the street in front of Bistro 33. The prior week I saw another yellow one driving in Minneopolis. In April I saw a red one in White Sulfphur Springs WV. Mine is black but after seeing the yellow in person I'm beginning to wonder if I made the right choice. I flew out of Roanoke last 2 weeks and kept an eye out for you and your Smart but didn't spot you. Are you still happy with yours?
You asked about paying taxes since you live in VA but your dealership is in NC on one of the threads in the forums. You are correct in that you should only have to pay VA taxes as taxes are paid when the vehicle is registered.
the smart gas tank is 8.8 gallons. And you really should use premium gas; I tried sneaking regular into the tank, and my car got significantly less mileage. The extra money for premium is made up by the better mileage, so I don't mind paying for it!
I got to test drive one in Winston-Salem, NC where I will get mine, and loved it. Four women in another car followed me into a mall parking lot honking their horn for me to stop. They wanted to know all about it.
