Small on the outside, big on the inside. Everyone loves to talk about it.
I've had the car for just over a year now. It's a case of love / hate. Love 90% of the car but the ride is just too punishing. I feel like I just got beat up every time I make it to work. There has got to be a way to make the car have more wheel travel before it bottoms out. The roads around DC suck but this car makes it 10 times worse. Now love being able to park in even the smallest spots. And nothing like a top down drive on a nice summer night.
Hi, Bob, I'm a convertible lover too. I fell for convertibles back in the early sixties when I dated a Cuban trombone player with a '55 four-door Ford convertible. And then, since life intervened with all its complications such as husbands and children, I never owned one until I bought my 2000 Cavalier Z-24 back in 2000 and then rarely had the top up. Even in winter when I would turn the heater way up and wear my fur coat. Drove that baby for almost 8 years and then traded it in for Miss Smartness on September 27. Am having a ball and glad you are too. Wind in our hair!
Thanx, Bob, for the info on Ragg Topp! You're right about the number of retailers... Great gouge, very much appreciated! Saw you a few weeks back whilst I was sitting out at O'Brien's...sure noticed your sharp looking Smart and I commented to my buddy that great minds think alike as we both have the Cabrio. Too bad I'd not crossed paths with you in the Smart sites before my last trip east. Cheers & Thanx! ~Mike
Thanks Bob. I appreciate the feedback. I called the dealer the other day and they are going to call me back regarding the gas gauge. They addressed the lube gearshifter when I picked it up but I'll have them look at it when I take it in. It fortunately hasn't happened again. I'll try your trick with the gas pump and see if I can get a true reading. I've just been trying to get true gas mileage and it's impossible when you don't know the actual numbers. Thanks again!
I am still having a blast. This morning was the first time I drove it in the rain (hard to believe huh?) and it drove like a champ. I have only had a couple of strange things - one is the gas gauge not registering full and the other was a transmission issue where it kept popping itself back and forth out of reverse to neutral. If either continue I'll head back to my dealer. I have taken it to a car wash too. It went through all by itself and I was pacing along side like a worried parent. Since I live in the city I can't wash it myself. But it did fine in the car wash. I'll look for the cabrio top cleaner too. I was wondering what was best for it. So I appreciate the research! All in all I can't believe how much fun I am having with this car. My road trip to your area is coming up too and I can't wait for that!!
Bob, I LOVE IT!! I really like the red and it looks great with the silver - they set each other off well. You have that same Kool-Aid smile I have had all weekend!
I bet you had a blast at the meet and greet. I actually missed one yesterday because I had a bunch of stuff that I needed to get done. I've been carless for 6 years since I moved to NYC, so the freedom of having wheels is an adjustment.
I love the looks and comments and smiles people give me as I drive around. An actual New Yorker stopped in the crosswalk and gave us the right of way to look at the car as we went by and then yelled "nice car". That doesn't happen when we drive the Lexus!!
I'm still smiling and I've been home for half an hour. It's so worth the wait!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Isn't it just the most fun thing ever?!?!?!? I just LOVE it. I think I'm going to a meeting of smarties tomorrow - there are about 6 planning on meeting at some Lookout place. I think it'll be worth trying to figure out how to get there (I take mass transit, so finding my way around NYC is a bit of a challenge for me! HA!) Well have fun. I've already got 150 miles on mine!! I'll be in your area on October 12th and would love to get together somewhere. The wedding is in Baltimore, but I think we are planning on going to Annapolis too. I'll let you know as the wedding party's plans become more solid. Congrats again!!! I can't stop smiling!
Mine's IN!!!! Rolled in at about 8:30 this morning and I got the call at exactly 9:01 from my salesperson. She's trying to get it prepped for me to pick it up tonight even. I really hope so, but if not, tomorrow for sure! Woohoo....I keep getting goosebumps when I think about it!!!
