The first thousand miles has gone very smoothly in my smart. It's still a lot of fun to drive and I've had no problems to report.

Everywhere I go the smart gets a lot of attention. I met my daughter at Firestone yesterday to get a tire on her car replaced. All of the guys from the shop came out to see the smart. They even asked to see the engine. One of them knew it was made by Mercedes and had a safety cage "like NASCAR." They all seemed to like it but said it… Continue

Scanguage

Posted on March 20, 2009 at 11:28am 9 Comments

Just got a scanguage and installed it to the left of the instrument cluster. It's velcro'ed to the top of the storage cubby.

So far, most trips average 42-46 mpg without the air conditioning and the top rolled back! One run with the AC blasting gave 38 mpg, but that was a lot of stop and go. I'm still on the first fill-up!

Hi Ron:

The install was easy. The scanguage is held to the top of the cubby with the velcro that came with the unit.

I routed the wire from the OBD plug under the dash out the left side forward of the door frame. You can just make out the wire to the left of the vent in the photo above.

I may go for a more permanent solution later. I think the velcro's adhesive may let go after a few afternoons in the hot sun.

Hi bob,
how hard was the install? Did you do it yourself?
