Had the Smart cabriolet for 2 years. No problem whatsoever except that I had to substitute two bulbs of the, br.eak lights, which I did myself. I still do 35/45 and at over $4 / gallon I feel pretty good.

It's been quite a while since I have been on this site. I just past my 2 year mark in April with owning my little car. I must say, I am still as happy as ever with it. Tax deduction???

Since it is tax time, and I bought my Smart in 2009, I was wondering if anyone knows of a tax deduction they have received since purchasing their Smart. I remember something early in 2009 about the government giving a tax rebate/deduction (of some sort) to vehicles that are good on gas consumption. Does anyone know if the purchase of a Smart is considered one of the type of vehicles for the Federal Government Car Allowance Rebate System or the Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEU), which EPA considers a "Smartway Vehicle"? I was wondering if, because it gets such good gas mileage, it would fall under the category for a tax deduction. I know a lot of people who own their Smarts are getting a wide variety of differences on their mileage, but I personally have been ranging between 48 - 51 mpg.… Continue

I was just wondering what everyone is getting on their miles per gallon. I have been averaging 45. I travel quite a lot on the freeway and am very impressed with how much I am getting. I just love my little car!!

Problems with security system and dome light

I was wondering if any of you have had any problems with the security system in their smart? Today I locked my smart and when I came out to unlock it, my key fob would not unlock. It acts like the battery is dead in the key fob and I had to manually unlock the door (and of course the alarm system goes off!) and I had to actually start the smart to get the alarm to go off. I do not know how to stop the alarm system. I also noticed there is no way to lock the door without the alarm system. The… Continue
