Paddle Shifters

Posted on August 22, 2008 at 11:41am 10 Comments

I have almost always driven a standard vehicle. I am a little nervous about the paddle shifters. Any suggestions. And do you get better gas milage while using them or the automatic way. I haven't received my smart yet. Can't wait!!!

Hi Charlotte!...Sorry, but we were out of the country for awhile. We use the floor shifter not the paddle shifters and we are getting an extra 10mpg. Same thing as shifting without a clutch!

I have always driven a stick, too, and was concerned about learning a radically new way to shift. I am unable to coordinate my fooot action with the automatic shift in my smart, so I started using the stick. Now I find it easier to use the paddles, but I still prefer the stick. Good luck!

Hi! There is NO WAY you will get one for less than sticker...but if you are a reservation holder, there are certain things they CAN NOT do.
