"Never heard a popping sound with or without the defroster on much less the engine backfiring. This needs to be looked at by someone who will listen to you. Maybe call a dealership in another city and get their opinion?
Good luck and be careful out…"

I reserved 2009 with a DDE of June '09. I went to the dealer in SF to see if there were any 2008 orphans and found a few. It didn't take long for me to decide to buy on the spot. It's already paying off in time saved due to its parkability!
Chris, I drove from Albuquerque, through Denver, to Laramie WY. It took about 10 hours. I found there was absolutely no issue with speed or the air conditioner. The only thing that bothered me was the wind. When I got crossways of it, I had white knuckles a couple of times, as the gusts were 40+, and the car is only 1500 lbs. Other than that, the whole trip was a blast, and people stopped to talk and stare the whole time.
I have the same question. I'm considering a road trip from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to Boulder, Colorado. If I do it soon, it will be before the snow flies, but I'd like to know how she will handle in the mountains.
