HID Upgrade

So at 20k miles my first headlight when out. I decided to upgrade to the low beams to HIDs and I'm so glad I did. Sure the lighting is much better, but the reason I'm really glad I did the upgrade was because it turns out you need to take off the whole front of the car to change the bulbs anyway. The Low DownHIDs used - smart car HID Conversion Kit by Smart Madness - Low Beams 4300kTime - 3 hours (first time taking the car apart for meKey Resources to do it yourself - Smart Madness and…See More

Chivalry is not dead! It takes a good man and a mighty car to jump a car with so many of it's own batteries! lol

Haha, yeah, you know those Toyotas: Can't start'em, can't stop'em, but they do get great gas mileage. Very laudable of you (and your GF) to go through the motions of accessing the battery in the smart (twice!).

Jump Starting a Prius

Hey all smart drivers. Thought you might get a kick out of the fact that this week I jump started a Prius with my smart. It's the second time I jumped a car with the smart. Didn't have time to take a photo, my girlfriend was freezing and we had to get going.See More

Can you hear me now?

OK, so after much research and settling in my new smart cabrio after 1k miles, I decided I get the one thing I always wanted in a car, an in dash Nav System.

All my research from forums (including this one) brought me to the conclusion of a Kenwood DNX8120 over the Pioneer AVIC-Z3. I choose the… Continue

The end of the beginning

Hi All,

I consider myself very lucky since I just got my 09 Cabrio last Friday, just 4 months after registration. Ever since registration I've been on the Smart USA Insider and Smart Car of America sites trying to dissect every possible issue that I might have coming from an SUV (06 Mercury Mariner). Since this would be my only mode of transportation I wanted to be super sure about this purchase.

After 2 test drives my ongoing concerns were:

- Shift delay

Hi Christopher. Just perusing the site on this rainy Long Island afternoon. I'm a fellow Long Islander (Seaford) and I'm wondering...did you get your smart at the smithtown or roslyn dealer? What's been your experience at your dealership? Seems there are cars around...I'm partial to the exact color combo that you have. Do you feel like you got a good deal? Thanks. Lu

Most installers will have the Double Din face plate that is needed. If not, it is easy enough to find on the web...like here.

Good luck to you!
