Thanks, I love it and I have one on order, scheduled for delivery next April (also blue but with the silver accent).
I got the extended warranty. In addition to not having to worry about repair cost, the extended, warranty adds to the resale value of the car.
in response to your question to Matthew about warranty extentions...i don't think he understood what you were asking. Yes, you can purchase an extended service contract when your new smart comes in. Your dealer can give you the specifics but they are offered by smart usa and third party companies. The pricing will depend on the terms of the sontract (ie: 60months/60000 miles etc..) You can select the coverage that suits your driving habits best. Average out what type of mileage you think you will be doing per year (national average is 12000 per year) and then think about how long you will be keeping your smarty for. For example if you drive an average of 12k per year and plan on keeping your smarty for 5 years (60months) you would choose a 60month/60000mile contract. contracts usually cover all of your major mechanical, engine, transmission, electrical etc.. but not routine maintenance items. hope this helps a little!!
You probably already know, but just in case, there are a few smarts being sold on E-bay. They're going for about $17, 500 and up, low miles and lots of bells and whistles. One of them is in Arizona...
I'm guessing the dealerships are adding everything they can to the orphan when someone decides not to buy. That way, rather than offer those options, it's just part of the package, ya know? If you can, maybe talk to your pals at the smart store to let 'em know what you really want.
It was great to hear that your wait might be shorter!
BTW The wind-up key was cute. But it's not a Mack truck bulldog on the front... lol
