Hi,
Thanks! I took home Coco 10/18/08 and I absolutely love her! Trust me, the wait is very worth it. Whether you decide to wait the whole term or get an orphan, I am sure you will love your smart. Only sad part about it is that I drive my smart on the weekends only. I live on a college campus 30 minutes away from my home, so I keep my car at home.
when your name comes up on the list they should call you and the car can be almost anything unless you specify otherwise. I left my options open so i got what ever they had. It can be of any configuration. and when your car accually comes in you can eather trade the orphan in, sell it to someone else, buy it also, or your immetiate family members can purchase it.
yeah i got an all black orphan with a bright red interior. i know you dont have to worry too much but the car does wonderful in the snow also. keep bugging them about the orphan. the squeeky hinge gets the grease.
no i am not going to sell my smart. I love the car too much. they have an orphan program at most dealerships if you want your car sooner you call them and put your name on the orphan list so when they have an abandoned smart you can have the option to buy that one instead.
i am so glad to see another young member into the smart community. I will be getting mine really soon with in a few weeks i am hoping. When are you going to be getting yours and what color and options are you going to get?
Emily, you will get an email from smart when it is time to configure. It will include a link and a password to get you into the configuring site. We got the email on September 25th and took delivery on December 27th - right at three months. Our smart arrived about three months earlier than the latest DDE. I would hope you would bet your car earlier too. We got lots of smiles, waves and comments again today. You will be the center of attention with your fortwo. Take Care! Richard
Hi Emily! To answer you on how long my wait was, I was one of the lucky "early adopters", meaning I reserved mine only 9 days after they started taking reservations. I think it was March 28, 2007 when I reserved mine, putting me in the first 4000-5000 customers to reserve one. It was approximately 7 full months after my reserve date until I was emailed to configure my car, and another 4 months until I received my call from the dealer that my car would be delivered. My wait was 16 days short of being 12 full months from my reservation date. For about 3 months after I got my car, mine was the only one in our area, so it was fun being the center of attention, and it still is, with all the folks pointing, staring and smiling. I just crossed 10,000 miles before Christmas, and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have this past year. Drop a line back anytime, Emily, as I'm happy to try and answer any query you have. See ya!
