P.S. My car is a 2009 with 27,000 miles. I had also purchased the pricey extended 7 yr/120K mi warranty and this was not covered under that either.

I have a 2009 smart and its only 20 months old. I have 22,000 miles on it. I read in the manual that the clutch is covered by warranty for only 1 year or 12,000 miles.
