My favorite things about smart
Feels like a big car but is very economical!
Drove a Smart in Cambridge UK 3 years ago and have been just dying waiting for it to come over here. Finally it arrives. I can't wait - I've got a passion on its way. Cant wait for the convertible. In the winter you'll see me in white, in summer possibly in yellow!
My smart's name
I'll know when I meet her :-)

I got the email to configure for a 2009 a few weeks ago and my DDE changed from March- May 2009 to Feb-April 2009. I am hoping that since we are in the small group of people to configure a 2009 that our cars will be one of the 1st ones in the Nov. shipment. I configured for a 2008 a couple of months ago. Reservered 1-01-08 . Lets hope this means good news for both of us.
Still waiting in Las Vegas, Nancy #2844
A lot of us who are getting our cars this month or so, configured in March. The DDE wasn't rolled out until March 31, so we had nothing at all to go by, and when I configured over the phone (I was having trouble with my internet access) it was suggested that it would be about 3 months, lol, I think we all heard that one. Mine is built, I just don't know if it is shipped yet, but I'm sure it will be soon, and once on the boat to Baltimore (my dealer's shipments come via Baltimore) it will just be 5-10 days until I can get my hands on it. Back to your questions about the DDE...
My first window started in early Dec08, to Feb09. Remember, I had already configured. Then it moved up to early Nov, then early Oct, then into Sep, then eventually to Aug 10. Then it started to run away from me until it became Sept 6, then jumped back to Sept 3, and there it sits. I was able to find out the VIN# on Sept 2. The DDE is, I'm sure, being tuned all the time. This is the pattern now, whether it is the pattern when your time comes, I can't say. Don't get too excited if the date gets closer, but if it gets closer and then runs away, then that is very good news.
I have my insurance with Auto Owners only because I have my home insurance, business insurance, other car and cargo van with them so I get a group rate. Since I am widowed and live alone do you think I have enough vehicles? The cargo van we use in our catering business, and the other car I use when we go to tax seminars when I am taking several people. But to tell you the truth I drive the smart more then anything, and yes I love zipping around and am quite surprised that I have not received a ticket yet. On the highway it is hard to hold under 75 and in town I find myself doing 40 plus. I live in a very small town 4,600 people and the speed limit is 30 all over town. Good thing I do most of the policemen's taxes. I know how you feel waiting for your car. I ordered mine on April 9, 2007 and picked it up on April 15, 2008. It seemed like it took forever. I have seen them in Europe for years and I knew I wanted one when them came to the States, so I just keep watching the website until they anounced that reservations were opened. I missed the opening date because it was during tax season, and I never have time to get on the internet during that time of year. Glad I got my reservation in when I did. I hope your wait doesn't seem too long. Well take care and good luck with the orphan. Write any time. Carol
