I am sorry to see your no longer a smart owner. I had e-mailed with Hutch Hutchison about his no longer being an owner too.

I also noticed that you had offered Hutch your trailer and hitch and he of course no longer needs it. I would be interested in getting it for myself if it is still available. I am more interested in the hitch than the trailer but if it is a package deal I can still do it. What is the price (Hutch mentioned you were at $900)? Do you have any wiring set or at least some guidance for the connecting the smart up to the trailer?

I hope you and Hutch can someday return to smart ownership.

Hi Jim, Well, I sold my Smart Car too!!! We have 14 miles of dirt road that can turn muddy in the winter we have found out, and when it is dry it is riddled with ruts and potholes We traded ours in Friday for a Nissan Frontier 4x4 Pickup and this will give us the confidence of being able to safely get to work or wherever we are going.....so am glad I waited on the trailer...but am hoping you sold it. Keep my number handy 719-290-1211 cell when you come to Pueblo, will make the drive over and meet you and will be fun to attend the Hot Rod show as well..blessings...hutch

Even a tougher decision now! It rained about a half inch on Wednesday then snowed about 5 inches at our house Wednesday. I drove that road again Thursday morning and the top two inches of it was pure mud. They put Magnesium Chloride on it in the summer to keep dust down and weeds, but it turns it into a mud rink in the winter. 20mph tops and my car was slipping through the mud all the way. even thought about turning around but had such a big day at work I couldn't. It is a shame 7 miles are making my decision, but this little car even in the good weather bounces around pretty good on this dirt road with potholes and such. County roads are just that....and Smarts really are meant for the bigger cities. Thanks for the update on price. I am looking at a Subaru Outback and a Nissan Frontier pickup. Both 4x4. First offer on Subaru they wanted to give me $11k for the Smart, The Subaru is about $1,500 under retail, so they are close to making a deal. Just don't know if I want to go pickup or not...I hate to lose the gas mileage! 54 mpg last fillup. As you can see, still have some thinking to do. I would need everything, so your $1,000 again is a sweet deal. I was at dealer and withheld purchasing snow tires, thinking they would be great for the mud/snow. I don't want to spend the $530 even on that until I make my decsion. HEre is another photo. This is the snow on the ground when we got home Wednesday night. Melted next day, but is what made the road so bad. Stay in touch! Will let you know what I do. I was looking at the Fiat 500 a couple of years ago that they have over in Europe, but have not heard of the 850?

Hi Jim, In talking to the wife, the only concern she had, which is vailid, is we don't know if we are going to have this car a year from now. We hope too! But we just moved out in the country and live on 35 acres. We are 40 miles southwest of Colorado Springs and we travel 7 miles of hard packed earth/gravel everyday...twice! And, we had our first snow, cold rain two weeks ago and the little car made it, but it is a very slippery road. We haven't been through a winter yet with it out here. We have a Jeep Commander as our second car, but we may want a Subaru Outback or something for our main vehicle. 4 wheel drive is kinda important in Colorado and out where we live. Your price is awesome! I would love to meet you. When you come out to Pueblo ( we were there yesterday shopping as it is 38 miles away ) in June for the Hot Rod show, let me know!!!! Thanks so much. OMG, I'm very sad to hear that you had to give up your gorgeous blue smartie, It was a strange feeling that hit me as I read your post, amongst all those folks who love their SCs and the one that regrets his decision to own one. Truly, a sad day. If it was me I'd just park it in the garage for 'someday', but I know what it's like to have a car for every day of the week and the insurance on them all, it's a heavy load.

Let's hope that sometime in the future you will be able to liquidate all those others and get a new ED smart, maybe in 2012 or beyond.
