"I am having the exact same problem.  My low beam headlamps are burning out an average of once per year.  I had to replace my right side low beam yesterday and tonight I noticed my headlamp having the same pattern you described on your…"

"Go to and they offer several brands for the smart. I bought the Blizzak snow tires for the rear and the conti's and/or the Kumho for the front. Delivered to my home the next day. Took them to Discount tire and had them mounted and…"

"It's not just you. From all I've read here, many many M-B/Smart centers (including mine) typically overprice independent garages by 300-500% for the same maintainence services. The only way around this is to get your maintainence done at a…"

"As for premium fuel, it is recommended for Smart cars. You don't have to use it; it will run on either regular or mid-grade fuels but your gas mileage will suffer. When I bought my 2009 used, it apparently had regular in the tank and it got…"

"A quick note on brake fluid that might be helpful. American-built cars use DOT-3 brake fluid whereas Smart uses DOT-4 brake fluid. My understanding is that one has a higher boiling point than the other (though at the moment I don't recall which…"

"This fall, I burned out both low beam lamps within about 6 weeks of each other on my 2 yr. old car. My NTB store said it's because brighter lamps burn hotter which shortens their lifespan. I'm sure the rough ride and stiff suspension…"

"I use both heater and heated seats.  Unfortunately on cold days, I have to drive about 20 miles before my car gets warm inside.  Probably because the heat source is very small and the warm air has to be pumped from behind the driver to in…"

It's a shame that it is taking so long to get your car. I was able to get mine with the CARS (cash for clunkers-$4500.00 for a '94 Lumina MiniVan and $500.00 for a '86 Olds 98 two full cars for one half a car. lol), we just walked in, spice was a "orphan" and had just the features we wanted (a passion with the solid roof, power steering, gray metallic). They had the License Tag ready before we even paid for it!

If they make you wait until 2012, you can get a Electric Drive smart! lol

Good to hear from you. MJB
