I surely DID freak. I still can't believe we didn't find any permanent damage. I had just gotten off the phone with my father & he called right back to say we better get home because a tree just fell on my car. The truth is, I thought he was talking about my Solara and all he said was a tree was leaning "over" it not ON it.

Everything else is going well with the car. I'm about 50 miles from 1000 miles. It really is a blast. And I LOVE the heated seats these days.

Julie from what I've read on a couple of websites both of the problems your having are very common problems. In fact my gas gauge doesn't work right either. But I did find if I full the tank very slowly and stop after the first time it clicks, the gauge will show full. The correct fix is to have the sending unit in the gas tank replaced by the dealer under warranty. It's a know problem that they stick and don't read correctly.
Now for the second problem with your shifter. Take it to the dealer as soon as possible! Some of the shifters that came off the assembly line were not lubricated properly. It will eventually get stuck altogether and will have to be towed. It just requires the dealer to remove the top of the shifter and put some kind of lubricant in it. Don't wait too long on that repair.

Yes, I'm still loving it. I'm looking forward to the Cape May meet & greet on Oct. 5th. Right now my gas icon is blinking for the first time. We're trying to keep track of MPG & I think we're right around 40. We took it to OC MD for a wedding last weekend. We only saw one other smart on that trip. I'm starting to see more around this area all the time. I hope we can meet up at one of the events sometime soon. We'll have to keep a look out for one in Northern NJ.

So now that we've had our cars for a little while now how are you liking it? I enjoy mine more as time goes by. I do have a few electrical gremlins but sure the dealer can get them fixed.

Julie, love the pixie dust sticker =) I have a Tink sticker in the rear window and a Tink floormat. I find the she says "cute" just like the car does. Keep smiling while driving.
