I think Smart had an edge in 2008 with uniques and MPG, Now many cars have high MPG. Smarts in Canada and Europe have a 3 cylinder Mercedes diesel engine which is suppose to deliver 70mpg plus. This would be a winner in the USA.

You could rent a car trailer or tow dolly and tow your smart yourself to the dealer in Madison. You will need a pick-up or SUV to pull the trailer or dolly. That would save you some money but would take up at least two days of your time.

The two MB dealers in MN have not agreed to who is going to do the work. They will not do anything and neither will SMART. It is my problem, I have to pay for a tow to Madison 300 miles away.

Why don't you try and find an independent shop to do the repairs for you. They or you can order parts from the nearest smart center and have them shipped to you.

Smart Stories from Julie's Garage - January 15, 2010
It happened. My nightmare. My Smart car, Maxwell, was hit.
On my way home from work on Wednesday, January 13th, I was in a line of cars waiting for a red light (I was 5th or 6th in line) when I looked into my rearview mirror and saw a car coming up behind me. I could see the top of the driver's head, which told me he was texting!
I watched in horror and realized he wasn't looking up to check the road. 'Crap,' I thought. 'He's not going to stop.'… Continue
