You can see from the Link below why the Fishing Line is used, because something about that Plastic just doesn't like to hold Stick-ons vary well... So we make sure its going to stay on right where we put it...<:-)) And nobody is going to be coming along, and just easily pealing it off...

My Brabus emblem fell off!?!?!?!?

White is the safest color day or night... Limo's are Class Classic Black or White... White is the easyest to live with...<:-))
Silver is the other white, so you have the best combo...<:-))

Here you go Ken,... Contact me for more info if needed...
Should You Accept This Mission, you will be rewarded with one of the Best L00KING Gas Cap Covers on a Smart Car...
~Go Slow~Take Your Time~Measure 4 Times before Drilling them holes~If any holes hit a rib on the back, trim it a little, it won't hurt a thing...

1) Masking tape the face of the Cap because you are going to be locating screw pattern
& center of cap (you may want to use a compuss to find center and draw circle for hole pattern & use it to divide up hole locations on the circle line
Note: you should have the cap on the Car to get your Level line on the cap~North~ South~East~West~because that opening indent tab is not Horizontal on the cap and will throw you off~You need to know North so the point of the star faces straight UP vertical
2) Holes for screws in cap are 9/16" in from edge of cap
3) Edge of Star is about 1 5/16" in from edge of cap (measure in from all sides to find center placement of star
4) The star has mounting tape on the out side ring... But I did not trust it for the long term... See Picture attached, and you will see red dots in the corners of the star points... The cap is 1/8" thick~I took a Red-Hot pin and poked it through the cap right at the corners of the star(just don't touch the Star) and used Clear Fishing Line to tie it down at each star point, pinning it down so it can't come unstuck (tie the line off on the back side of the cover, and take my word for it, you cannot see the Line)(you could drill them holes with a teenyweeny drill bit if you have one)

~Removing Smart Gas Cap~
There is one Tab about 1 1/4" that needs to be lifted away from the mounting bracket to release the cap~Stand in front of the cap & with a Large Blade Screw Driver, stick it in and turn it so as to wedge the cap out a little unlocking the tab, and then you slide the Cap straight Back To You~you will see it slide off the bracket toward You (look close~be careful its plastic you know~remember Hast Makes Waste)

~Screws~
Try local hardware stores~use any stainless screw of your choice~you can polish the head if need be in a drill & 600 sand paper~hard part is to cut the screws off to 3/16" length~cut off with a dremal cutoff wheel or a better idea if you have one~now when you have the screws ready, lay out your screw pattern on the cap and drill apropreate Tight Size holes in the cap & debure the holes so the screw head lays flat to the cap face~
~This is the Size screw I used~
6/32 TRUSS PHIL MACHINE SCREW (18-8 stainless)(Truss is flatter pan head)(head is 5/16 diameter)

March 7th, the Grand Opening of the new Ft Worth Smart Center was further made GRAND as it was the same day my Smart arrived in Ft Worth. What a Grand day it was. However, I didn't get to take her home until the 11th - just had to add some chrome goodies.
