Lots of Orphans

Posted on March 2, 2009 at 8:27pm 0 Comments

I took my "Baby Car" in for her 10000 mile check up & they have 15 orphans! Don't know if anyone wants to travel to Portland, OR for a car or not...I love mine & am still on the reservation list for a '09. I plan to change the panels as the '09 doesn't come in yellow!

New dealer with no orphan add ons!

Posted on November 1, 2008 at 3:43pm 6 Comments

My mother is waiting for her own Smart car. The new dealer where she lives isn't set up yet for adding extras to the orphans & is selling the orphans without adding to them!! Makes me wonder if you could get one without all the extras if you went to a new dealer??? Unfortunately he will be set up in two weeks to add all the extras! Linda

Check Engine Light

Posted on September 16, 2008 at 11:55pm 5 Comments

My check engine light came on at 4200 miles. Has anyone else had a problem with their car? The dealer told me it was a common problem & he replaced a "switch." That's all the information I got.

Hi Linda,
Thank you for your interest in the yellow panels. I am asking $1200 for the panels. I am speaking with our Dealership on Wednesday to get an idea of the shipping costs. How does this sound to you?

No problem, glad to help. I love my smartie too! I tell people all the time it's the best car buying decision I ever made. By the way, I don't know if your a member or not, but SCOA has a lot of information regarding trouble codes, and repairs for our cars. Please don't let it scare you, the number of issues reported there seems large at times, but it actually is a very small percentage of cars sold so far. Given that it's a new manufacture with a new model here in the USA, it's been remarkably trouble free.

Congrats. I'd take an orphan too. My dealer says there are about 300 people in front of me and I was told that if you say no to an orphan than you go to the bottom of the list. You can tell them, what you don't want and they will not call and offer that one to you. Four month wait sounds very reasonable. So will the one you ordered become an orphan or do you plan to see the orphan for the new one?
