There is a fee for this event that covers 2 dinners.OutSmarting the Dragon is a 3 1/2 day event that takes place in the RURAL mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. It's a time to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Smart owners from all over the country as well as Canada join us as we experience some of the best roads as well as some of the most beautiful scenery in the nation. Anyone is welcome... you need not own a smart car. Just come to have fun and relax!!The name for our event comes from the Tail of the Dragon. This is a local stretch of US Route 129 that has 318 curves in 11 miles.  It's known as one of the most challenging roads in the nation and attracts car and motorcycle enthusiasts year round. Also local is the Cherohala Skyway. This road offers breathtaking views as well as sweeping corners as you ride the ridges between North Carolina and Tennessee. Couple these with other local roads such as the Foothills Parkway and Moonshiner 28 and there is no shortage of fun!!!Fontana Village is within an hours drive of Maryville, Knoxville and Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee as well as Robbinsville, Cherokee and other small towns in North Carolina. There's an endless number of local treasures and business to explore as well as parks and monuments. Fontana Dam is 3 miles up the road with it's visitor center and amazing views!!Activities for the weekend include the return of RC smart car races and the second annual Dragon Drool contest. Also, we will be hosting a welcome dinner on Thursday night and wrapup dinner on Saturday night. We do a group run of the Tail of the Dragon and this year we will also be debuting the Dragon After Dark which will be a separate ride on Friday night to see what the Dragon has to offer at night!! We'll have day runs available so you can explore the area on Friday and Saturday at your own pace and some great vendors onsite for anything you might need/want for your car. "Calling to all Smart Car Owners One and All"The Third Annual Mystery Run...This year it will be Saturday July 9th,Greet and Meet will be start around 10:00am (for those who like to be early, I will be there for 9:30am)Meet at the Tim Hortons at the corner of Hwy 5 and Hwy 6 (Clappison Corners) Waterdown. Free coffee will be set up in the back of the van.
