My airbag warning light came on. I live 75 miles from my closest dealer and had less than 450 miles on my car. Roadside assistance told me not to drive the car and they would pick it up within 2 hours. Not only was the tow driver here on time, but had complete instructions on the CORRECT way to tow a smartcar.

There was a problem with the airbags themselves, and since I am disabled with only one car, they put my smartcar "Mr. Bean" on a rollback and delivered him back to… Continue

As a smart customer and advocate, we know that you talk to many people who'd like to buy a smart vehicle but didn't want to wait. For a very short time, they don't have… Continue

Should I sell him or store him? UR Opinion/Sell is winning

Posted on September 25, 2008 at 12:50pm 19 Comments

I have been gone out of the country for a couple of weeks. I will be moving to Belize before the end of the year. Should I store our smart (Mr. Bean) or should I sell him? Will probably be gone for 3-5 years. Will gas be outrageous when I get back? He has less than 500 miles on him, but my fiancé' are at a quandary on what we are going to do with him, and my family is split down the middle. Let us know what you think.

Try the "EYE DROPPER" trick when getting gas!!

Too funny. Really. Go and buy an eyedropper at a drug store. After you fill your car up, stand there with your eye dropper and peer intently into your tank. Someone will come up and ask what you are doing. Tell them you are topping your tank off. Then turn around and say, :It's full!" can you use the rest of this gas? If they ask what your mpg is, just say about 20 miles per drop! You gotta have some humor to pull this off, but it is hysterical!

Hi Mark, I have a question. I have almost always driven a standard vehicle. The paddle shifters confuse me a bit. (I haven't gotten my smart yet.) Any suggestions.

I got it. Thanks, I have $1000.00 invested in the Orphan program so I just have to wait it out. I am not even configured yet for my reservation. March/April /May for delivery.

HI Mark, what did the wife decide on the selling of the smart? I was in Utah on Saturday picking up my recumbent bike and went by the Smart dealer Lindon. Hopefully I will be hearing from them very soon. I test drove a Cabriolet...was the first time inside one and it was great.

Nancy & Gary,,and Ron,, If the orphans were controlled by the reservationists, you would still have overpriced cars...but the percentage of mark-up would be lower. OR they would have to invent a more practical and fair orphan owner policy at the dealers, THerefore my suggestion is that everyone with a reserved configured car, take delivery. THen if you dont want the car, sell it to someone who does.

What about us people that are hoping to get an oprhan and are wlling/can pay for it? I hope to be offered an orphan and will snap it up if is what I want. Life is to short. Enjoy it while you can. Everyone that goes into business has a right to make money every care dealers.

OH absolutely, I understand that. I am on a orphan list
(I know that is a nasty thing) but I will probably see a car before the end of the year and my reservation is looking at March April May 09. Of course the snow will be flying here in Wyoming soon so probably will not drive the orphan much if I see one.

Hey Mark,
Saw your comment Aug 1 offering your car for sale---are you not satisfied. Also Ive been thinking about taking Abby my 90plus lb. lab for a ride with the passenger seat folded down and the top down. She loves to ride. Just wondered if you have tried pets in the smart yet. I'll have to cover the area with a blanket or something or my interior will go from black to brown with all of the shedding.
