Well it's week two of driving the Red Baron. I'm having a blast driving this little red car. And, who wouldn't. It makes me smile every time I get in. Just thought I'd share. Hope everyone loves driving their Smart as much as I love driving mine!!!

I've had the Red Baron less than a week.

My Husband and I went to Home Depot this morning to pick up a few items for a bathroom remodeling project. As we are wheeling through the depot we pick up a shop vac, 2 three ton jacks, 3 gallons of paint, tile cleaner and sealer and lightbulbs. I received an e-mail on Wednesday of this week than an orphaned Smart was available with a few upgrades. So, I bought it but...

I don't have it yet. Mercedes was adding a few upgrades, which included custom paint. Apparently the painting is not quite finished and I have to wait until Monday to pick it up. Uuuugh!!! I was hoping to drive away with the "Red Baron" tomorrow (Sat, July 19th). I guess I can wait a few more days but I really don't want to. I'm really just complaining. But… Continue

Many stations are out of premium and mid-grade/plus, and several I drove by today were completely out of all grades except diesel. I finally took a chance and drove up to the Granite Falls area to a station I've stopped at before, and luckily, they still had premium. I'm picking up 1 or 2 gas cans at WalMart on Monday and won't get caught short again. This is ridiculous. Hope you have a good weekend. :-)

I have tried using both regular and premium and find that while I only get about 2-3 miles a gallon less mileage with regular it isn't worth the difference. At 2 miles per gallon I am driving about 16 miles less (2 x 8 gallons). That is about 1/2 gallon. If premium costs about 20 cents more per gallon I have saved about 80 cents. Rather run the good stuff and be about even.

It seems that a LOT of dealerships are "adding" a lot of extras to the orphans to jack the price up. Things like new paint, painting the skirts, special wheels, etc. Hope this isn't intentional for all dealerships.

The man I was talking to said he heard that in Nashville Tenn, they were out of gas .. all gas.. It does sound crazy.. I bet the prices go up again..
